For me it would be either God Must Have Spent or This I Promise You by N'sync.

Hmmm.... this one's tough, but probably Lovesong by the Cure, Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode, We're In This Together by NIN (well, kinda), Be My Baby by the Ronettes, Lucky by Bif Naked, God Only Knows by Brian Wilson an' the Beach Boys, and ... hmm ... a whole bunch by Type O Negative.

Now how's that for interesting taste?

The most romantic song...

Most edgily romantic is A Dangerous Game, from the musical Jekyll & Hyde. *shiver* Most sexily romantic is Love You to Death, by Type O Negative. Mm, yummy. Most mournfully romantic is Lucky, by Bif Naked. This was Mike an' my's 'song' fr a while. Now there are too many to keep track of! Most desperately romantic is We're In This Together, by Nine Inch Nails, with The Fragile, off the same album, nipping at its heels. Most tragically romantic is How Could I Ever Know?, from the musical The Secret Garden. Most gothically romantic (yep, written after he's lost the girl) is Monument, by Cruxshadows. The most affectingly romantic (will floor me every time) song is One More Time, by The Cure. And most intensely romantic, by far, is I Am You, by Depeche Mode. "You have wrapped my heart in subtle chains... So much pleasure that it feels like pain... So entwined now that we can't break free. I am yours eternally."

And just to confuse everyone.... The most sarcastically romantic is Marilyn Manson's Love Song!

I'm terrible.

So I think I may've beat even Mike fr interesting taste.

Oh! And Garth Brooks' The Dance may not be specifically romantic, but there's just something about it...

Anyway.

What's that song by the Cure... it's on Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me, and the chorus goes:

"That girl, she used to fall down a lot
she was always fallin' again and again'
And I sometimes used to try to catch her
but never even caught her name..."

Anyway... maybe that one... or maybe Sweet Jane by... Cowboy Junkies, right? Or.. how about Gigantic, by the Pixies? I know it's kind of poppish, but that's part of the appeal, to me...

And if NIN was ever to have a romantic song... it has to be A Warm Place... I think Trent's instrumental pieces are so phenomenal... where his lyrics are mediocre at best.. best romatic NIN song with lyrics is probably that "The Feel of Something New' song on Pretty Hate Machine. I used to sing it to my ex-boyfriend.

And... finally... There's a song on Ani DiFranco's first album, I think it's called Every Angle? "Thoughts of you/are picketing my brain/they refuse/to work such long hours without rest/in unstable conditions at best/ you know they're out there every day/holding up their signs/and thoughts/no other man but you/could possibly get through that picket line..." I hope I didn't quote enough to get nailed by the copyright infringement police... but if it's any help, I don't think Ani would object...

I'm tired... and rambling... and shutting myself up now... forgive typos

The MOST romantic would be "Forever In My Life" by Prince, followed closely by "Adore" also by Prince.

Runners up include :

"Daisy Jane" by America
"Lost In You" by Garth Brooks/Chris Gaines
"Saved The Best For Last" by Vanessa Williams
"Finally Found My Way" by KISS
"Cowboy, Take Me Away" by Dixie Chicks
"Breathe" by Faith Hill

and "Blister In The Sun" by the Violent Femmes  (lol-just threw that last one in there to see if anyone is paying attention   )

It would depend on the time and the romance...both seem to be fleeting.

but...there ARE a couple...grin, that have touched me heart.
The first time I held my firstborn?
John Lennon
Title: Oh My Love
Album: Imagine

Oh my love for the first time in my life,
My eyes are wide open,
Oh my lover for the first time in my life,
My eyes can see,

I see the wind,
Oh I see the trees,
Everything is clear in my heart,
I see the clouds,
Oh I see the sky,
Everything is clear in our world,

Oh my love for the first time in my life,
My mind is wide open,
oh my lover for the first time in my life,
My mind can feel,

I feel the sorrow,
Oh I feel dreams,
Everything is clear in my heart,
Everything is clear in our world,
I feel the life,
Oh I feel love.

and for my second child...her daddy wasn't there when I held her for the first time...I waited nine hours to hold her(complications, yanno)

I heard music again--and sang this one to her for her daddy--

"somewhere out there"

Somewhere out there,
Beneath the pale moon night,
Someone's thinking of me,
And loving me tonight.
Somewhere out there,
Someone's saying a prayer,
That we'll find one another,
In that big somewhere out there.
And even though I know how very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishing
On the same bright star,
And when the night wind starts to sing
A lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the
Same big sky.
Somewhere out there,
If love can see us through,
Then, we'll be together,
Somewhere out there, out where dreams, come true.
And even though I know how very far apart we are,
It helps to think we might be wishing
On the same bright star,
And when the night wind starts to sing
A lonesome lullaby,
It helps to think we're sleeping underneath the
Same big sky.
Somewhere out there,
If love can see us through, (can see us through)
Then, we'll be together,
Somewhere out there, out where dreams, come true.

wow. I just realized. I think I'm gonna sing that one for My Dad...tonight? smiles...

OH...and btw..if you are wondering what the fiance' and I are going to dance to?

grin..for the bride:

Woman

Woman I can hardly exrpess
My mixed emotions at my thoughtlessness
After all I'm forever in your debt
And woman I will try to express
My inner feelings and thankfulness
For showing me the meaning of success ooh well
Woman I know you understand
The little child inside the man
Please remember my life is in your hands
And woman hold me close to your heart
However distant don't keep us apart
After all it is written in the stars ooh well
Woman please let me explain
I never mean(t) to cause you sorrow or pain
So let me tell you again and again and again
(I love you now and forever)

and for the groom: (assuming that he will be)

(Just like) Starting Over

(Just Like) Starting Over
Find this song on Sheet music, CD

Our Life together is so precious together
We have grown - we have grown
Although our love is still special
Let's take a chance and fly away somewhere alone

It's been too long since we took the time
No-one's to blame, I know time flies so quickly
But when I see you darling
It's like we both are falling in love again
It'll be just like starting over - starting over

Everyday we used to make it love
Why can't we be making love nice and easy
It's time to spread our wings and fly
Don't let another day go by my love
It'll be just like starting over - starting over

Why don't we take off alone
Take a trip somewhere far, far away
We'll be together on our own again
Like we used to in the early days
Well, well, well darling

OKAY, OKAY, okay...sigh...I intend to suspend my disbelief, and if all else fails? I was promised CUERVO...

now...HOW ROMANTIC IS THAT?

ROTFL @ Sudir  :::N'SYNC?!? You GOT to be Kidding me:::

I have found that the most romantic songs are formed in an unforgettable moment in time; therefore, all of my most romantic songs are found in Soundtracks to great movies...

Slept So Long  ~Jay Gordan of Orgy (From "Queen of the Damned")
It Cant Rain All The Time  ~Jane Siberry (From "The Crow")
Kissing You  ~Des'ree (Love Theme from "Romeo & Juliet")
This Love  ~Elizabeth Fraser (From "Cruel Intentions")
Iris  ~Goo Goo Dolls (From "City of Angels")
I Will Find You  ~Trevor Jones (From the Score of "Last of the Mohicans")
In Your Eyes  ~Peter Gabriel (From "Say Anything")

:::BiTES DoWN On LowER LiP::: This can't be all of them... (Forgive me, but it is 3:13AM)

    increases sorrow...

lol I'm sure "Add It Up" is a very romantic song for SOME people.. heh heh

hey, while we're at it, let's add "Smack My B-tch Up" by Prodigy! Truly a romantic tear jerker for the S & M set! lol

"Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls - excellent addition!

and "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton bears mentioning (even if it is a bit cheesy! )

Heaven by Psychadelic Furs (and the sight of Richard Butler singing this live….let me just say…SWOON!!!)
Hands Across the Sea by Modern English
Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush

Um...I forgot something...the first time I heard Edwin McCain singing "I'll Be" (izzat the correct title?) I actually sat on my kitchen floor while drying a dish...and cried when it was over.

That song sums up everything I'd love to know about love, and everything I do not believe I will ever have.

Can't narrow it down to just one, so here's a few

Letter's to Elise - The Cure
When The Body Speaks - Depeche Mode
Sanvean - Lisa Gerrard
Requiem Mass - Mozart (the whole darn thing!)
In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel

I'd say almost every softer song by both Depeche Mode and The Cure are very romantic, even if often tragic. I mean (and Mike will cut me down here), When The Body Speaks isn't about love. It's just more lust and obsessive devotion; you'll notice that in almost everything written by Martin Gore. So it's desperate as much as it is romantic.

And let's face it, everything written by Robert Smith has a mix of tragedy, desperation, romance, and drugs/alcohol in it. Yum, th' Cure be my fave band.
