I'd like to do another song dedication thread, so bear with me again, folks.  Please take care not to post the lyrics here. Just the name of the song and the artist who sings it will suuffice. ohhh..and who you're dedicating it to.

I have one that will do for now

For Moonlight Romeo
"My Heart Is Lost To You" Brooks and Dunn

"My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words
Of that tongue’s uttering, yet I know the sound:" "Romeo and Juliet"

My first dedication is "Underneath Your Clothes" by Shakira for Mistletoe Angel

And my second dedication is "That's what friends are for" by stevie wonder and and dionne warwick for Enchantress!

Noah and Nancy, my two loves

Thank you Dear One.

I would like to dedicate a relatively unknown John Denver song to you.  It's called "My Sweet Lady".

And your heart is safe in my hands.

Welcome, good poets, to the serene sounds of serenity, comin' atchya today from the steam of a N'Awlins afternoon. We've got some cool jazz, r&b, classics and classics-to-be for your listening pleasure today--but first? I've got a few very special requests for dedications...give it your ear, I know you'll be pleased.

From Serenity to Janet Marie? "Ball and Chain"...um, the Janis Joplin version please--BECAUSE SHE KNOWS

then one for Sharon-- "Someone to Watch Over Me"..wicked me...
Ella Fitzgerald

bsquirrel and his girl, Lori? "Nothing Else Matters"--Metallica

for the man behind the scenes, our own Ron Carnell? "Skating Away (on the thin ice of a new day)" by Jethro Tull--

particularly THIS part:

"So as you push off from the shore, won't you turn your head once more -
And make your peace with everyone?
For those who choose to stay, will live just one more day -
To do the things they should have done.
And as you cross the wilderness, spinning in your emptiness:
You feel you have to pray.
Looking for a sign that the Universal Mind
Has written you into the Passion Play."

and our irrepressible doreen? To her I send--
"Golden Slumbers" by John Lennon.

Christopher? did not forget you...but I thought I'd remember YOU and Peggy Lee at the same time, and send out "Fever" to you...ooooh...

Karilea, you get "Amorena" by Elton John...because it WOULD have been "Karilea" had Bernie Taupin been aware of you.

Professor Gloom...grin..easy "Talkin' Old Soldiers" again by Sir Elton.

Nan? "At Last"--the divine Etta James version, of course.

My beloved bro, the Alicat? grin...has to be "Stray Cat Strut" by The Stray Cats!!!

Michael Mack? There was no other choice in my mind--"Piano Man" by Billy Joel.

Marge Tindall..."Strawberry Fields Forever"
by the Beatles

Masked Intruder..."You Can Leave Your Hat On"
and hey...wink, ANY version will do!

and wow...look at the time! I'll be back with more, but first I have to let you hear this short message from one of our sponsors...sigh..Okay..I'll be back after FIFTY short messages..but we gotta pay the bills!

and as they say here in N'Awlins?

"Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!"

I'm dedicating Tantric's "Mourning" from someone to someone else.

Tantric's "All To Myself" dedicated to the world around me and anyone complicating my life right now with their twittering little crap notions of who I am. ohh..and anyone who'd like to judge me too..GO AWAY! Sorry..a little moody today..

Metallica "The Struggle Within" dedicated to the people who JUST DON'T GET IT and can't leave it alone!

Best place I've found lyrics is at Lyrics.com
The pop ups have gotten annoying though.

I was looking for something softer, but I don't feel so soft and fuzzy right now. These are sort of my "in your face" songs at the moment.

How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so.

"There's Your Trouble" Dixie Chicks (I think)

Dedicated to someone who knows I know they don't 100% identify with this song...but I'm feeling it tonight.

Well...

"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith for my boyfriend on our fifth anniversary well, in a few weeks).

"You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins for my Mum, Dee. She knows what it's for.

I'm sure I'll come back later when I think of some more.

Ooh, nothing else matters... Thanks, Serenity! Now I have the version off S&M permanently stuck in my head, and I hope Mike gets it stuck in his head, too. Who thought a metal band could be soooo romantic?

Anyway, there's so many songs out there, it's not fair!

So I'm gonna send Nine Inch Nail's 'the perfect drug' out to Mike, just to be crazily obsessive enough to be at odds. Yay!

Lori,
Nothing Else Matters is an excellent romantic song.

My husband and I danced to it at our wedding reception because it was "our" song.

*sigh* seems long ago. At least its a good memory.

Not only is it romantic, it's feisty and powerful. I think more couples should get songs like Nothing Else Matters as their special song; prove the romance of the alternative world.

To Open: "The World's A Mess; It's In My Kiss" by X (where else can you find solace and confusion in such beautiful proliferation but in Open?)

To Dark: "Transmission," Joy Division (singing darkly about hope and love to the radio of listeners)

To Deputy Moderators Forum: "All Apologies," Nirvana (sometimes you do feel "married/buried" to this work -- but it helps you love those involved and the site even more)

To Lori: (who I'm going to give six songs to)
1. I Believe When I Fall in Love (It Will Be Forever), Stevie Wonder -- sad and hopeful and beautifully right
2. Exit Music (For A Film), Radiohead; and 3. Cherish, Madonna -- Exit Music was used in the movie Romeo + Juliet, and Cherish out and out speaks those lines (we're not a tragedy, though)
4. Comatose, Depeche Mode (personal reasons)
5. Lucky, Bif Naked (personal reasons)
6. Black No. 1, Type O Negative (very personal reasons )

And to serenity: I always picture you when I hear Santana's version of Black Magic Woman for some reason....

There's plenty more I could dedicate to, but I'm kinda at work right now.

She said burn ... together.

Due to extreme heat exhaustion, Mike Chmielecki was rumoured to have left off the following in his dedication list to Lori: God Only Knows, The Beach Boys; #1 Crush, Garbage (my obsessive-devotional return); The Most Beautiful Girl in the World and ... ahem ... Erotic City by Prince; and Tonight, Tonight by the Smashing Pumpkins. It will not happen again.

And I've decided, speaking of '80s pseudo-goth synth-pop, that anything by Modern English that mentions mesh and lace is soooooooooooooooo ....... um.... what's a word I can actually use here?

Let's just say sexy, and pretend that's strong enough.

Apart, by The Cure, for an absent friend.

One More Time, by The Cure, for Mikhail.

Unwanted, by Avril Lavigne, for Manda. (And Mikhail, honey, we wreak havoc when we're in the mall and Avril is playing. Singing at the top of our lungs, not caring who hears or what. It is not good for those around us when Manda an' me have artists from the mainstream in our musical repertoire!)

yet deign i embrace you with meek adoration?
your fragile humanity rised with contrition.
