If you want to know how much you're valued at your job place, give them your two-week notice.

I spent over an hour convincing my boss i was serious about leaving, and another explaining that he couldn't convince me to stay no matter what offer he made.

since then, i've had several people question what they [company] will do without me.

heh. it's nice to be loved - but perhaps people should learn to show it before it's too late, eh?

*disclaimer*

- Don't do this unless you're serious about quitting. They might not ask you to stay. -

I agree!!!!!!
did you quit for a better position at a different company, or did you quit to follow your dream??   hugssss you....

Lauren~

I would rather have one breath of his hair,
one kiss of his mouth,
one touch of his hand
than an eternity without it.

I can't imagine anyone would WANT to live without you!!! Good luck...if you're happy, then it's worth it.

Itís a strange phenomenon and a personal annoyance Chris, every place Iíve ever worked has suddenly decided to offer me more money to stay when in most cases paying me more in the first place would have stopped me looking for work elsewhere. Iíve never gone back on a decision to leave though, in fact the offers have always hardened my resolve - ď hey weíve been ripping you off for years by underpaying you but if your going to leave weíll pay you what you were worth in the first placeĒ Ė thanks but no thanks.

The job and employers I have at the moment are great in that respect, every year they sit you down tell you how they think youíve done in the previous year and where they expect you to be within the company in twelve months time. So far their expectations havenít been far wrong and Iíve gained financially year on year. (Donít tell them but I enjoy the job so much Iíd actually do it for less.)

Well, I really can't blame them -- it IS hard to find a good janitor these days ... =p

Heh.

Sincerely, I am proud of you -- I just hope you have a "Plan B?"

uhm... this IS plan B.

I'm quitting to "follow my dream" as Lauren suggested. i have no children, no mortgage, no real responsibilities to tie me down other than the ones i assume.

so, i'll be writing a lot, and going for my teaching credentials. english/creative writing. *eg*

Good luck, C! I know the feeling. I handed in my two weeks to my first employer a few years ago, and she had no idea why. Haven't been back since.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

Congrats, Christopher!  I applaud the fact that you are following your dreams and aspirations!

There's a bunk here for when you're sleepy...

and if you're hungry, I'm STILL known to be a good cook....

But you have to live with the fact that I have a dog...

I am in the navy. I just can't walk in and tell the CO, "I quit."

He'd laugh and have a psych eval done on me

I would have to wait for the expiration of my extension.
