It was perhaps the best opening ceremony I've ever seen, and I've seen them all since I was a child.

I liked the whole thing! I think the audience participation was wonderful! They cheered for all the countries (Iran not so much) but I thought each country got a grand welcome!

It was great to see the excitement on the athletes faces....I smiled back though they couldn't see me!

The program was marvelous! I loved every second of it: the skaters, puppeteers, dancers and singers were excellent. I loved the theme and enjoyed seeing the Native American and Pioneer theme done so nicely.

I got goose bumps when I saw the people chosen to carry the Olympic flag.  John Glenn and Steven Spielberg..Desmond Tutu..it was amazing.

And I'm so glad they chose the 1980 Olympic Hockey team to light the flame! It was perfect. I was afraid they'd use someone in a non-sport area.

All in all, I was highly impressed.

EXCEPT! for Katie Couric and Bob Costas, get rid of them. They talked over each other and most of the time, they tried to tell us what we already could see on the screen. I did not care for that - but that was NBC not the Olympics..

I loved the singing of "God Bless America", the gentleman who sang was great.

I was magic to see your man Parra fly over the ice during his 5 km speed skating and break the Olimpic and World record, but... our man was better!

Gold for the Netherlands! Yeahhhhh! Uytdehaage was the best in a fabulous race, breaking Parra's records! Congratulations Mr. Uytdehaage!

Well Canada didn't get the gold in speed skating, but we've broken our own record, so... According to the guy I worked with last night, Canada's outfits looked like they were part of a marching band... I wouldn't know... I was trying to sleep. I'd like them to get rid of those hats though... Or at least put them on backwards...

I personally got a bit bored with the opening ceremony. It looked a lot like Sydney...

And what really irked me was Cathy Freeman coming out...I hate that woman.

Lighting the flame looked very cool though.

If this is all the world has to offer, I want a refund on my life.

Apparantly there's going to be an inquiry into it. I mean, for that flawless performance of ours... Okay, I'm proud of them!

Ok guys, Russia deserved the gold! They incorporated style and grace into their performance. Hell, they worked with the Russian Ballet for crying out loud. All that Canada did was skate around a few times in circles. Russia were beautiful and elegant.

If this is all the world has to offer, I want a refund on my life.

I like the Winter Olympics better than the Summer Olympics. . . don't know why. . . maybe becuase I live here where it snows. . . but, perhaps it's the thrill of watching people soar over (and down) mountains and fly down the track at unheard of speeds. . . on ice. . . and snow . . .

The Canadians did NOT JUST skate in circles! Liz---you could say that about everyone with that attitude!

Others are too in love with the sound of their own voice to speak the truth...
