I am having so much trouble with my puter that I can only stay online for a little while. Sometimes I am lucky enough to ge a whole half hour! I usually get to read a couple of poems and then it is gone again.
So I want to appologise for the very short replies I am making but I am trying to get as many in as possible.
I wish I got the chance to read more as I know I am missing so much.
Any one know of a good computer tech??

Dee

What probs are you having? Disk crashes? Operating system errors? Blue screens of Death? Modem disconnnections?

There are many people here, including myself and Ron, who can and probably will help out in any way possible.

Hope to hear back soon.

We MISS you Dee!
I also am having trouble with my computer. A few months ago my father was using my computer to run some program and it burnt out my processor, so now the computer over heats and black screens! The screen flashes black and then I have to shut it down and let it cool off for an hour or so before getting back on it. It's terrible but I'm going to get it fixed soon, Either that or I'm going to take that blonde haired boy's advice and go get a DELL! LOL!

Alicat, I get things like 'explorer has performed an illegal opperation and will shut down' Then it is downhill from there. Or it just seizes up and I can't do anything but reset. It won't even alt + control + delete.
The internal modem disconects too, sometimes, but I am told by my server that is because the extension is too long.
Any advice is apreciated, as the last two techs I have had weren't any good.
My email is adholst@pacific.net.au if you want to advise me that way.

Rose Petal, that blonde haired boy??????

first things to do is make sure you still have enough drive space available and make sure your resources are not too low.  You can also run the simplest fixes like scandisk, you'll be amazed with what it can actually do.

Hi dee
The suggestion that i have is that you can download for free from Zdnet a very small program called Memory Boost pro manager.
It installs an icon into your tray area which constantly tells you how much space is left on your hard drive.
It will alert you when things are getting low.
It also resets your computer to optimum levels and saves you space.
It is a fifteen day free trial at first
then unfortunately a little bit of money is involved.
don't know how much, i am still in the free trial stage but I am quite impressed with it.
If you want it and can't find it, the program is small enough to email, advise me and i will gladly do so.
take care and God bless.

Alicat, I have done as you suggested and nothing. Tried talking to my ISP and all they could say was it was my equipment.
I don't know if this is a coincedence or not but I have taken off the internet security system I was using and changed back to my old one and no problems now.
Thank you all for your help, I learned something useful.
