Without naming the offending party and I am not quite sure if this commercial is national or not but I know one thing, I turned my computer off, turned the tv on and THIS COMMERCIAL IS DRIVING ME INSANE....it's more annoying than pop-up windows---

So...after that small rant--What commercial makes you want to shoot your television set?

I find Microsoft's commercial for the new XP system to be really irritating and just a little bit scary.

I understand that the flying people are a metaphor, and that's cool. But have you noticed that none of the flying people are able to keep their legs together? Is that a metaphor, too? And if so, for what?

I'm sticking with NT, I think …

Ron! OMG! I have Windows XP (Sharon looks down - OMG! My legs are NOT together!)

In fact I look like an X hands up, legs out - and that P! I think it's a raspberry!! Yes it is! Someone sticking their tongue out!! OMG I think it's me!! Either I'm being VERY rude or offering to French Kiss you...Oh my What the Windows XP will make you do! I think I must get rid of it before I take liberties with someone!!

*I ran out to a hardware store and bought some duct tape (I always thought it was duck tape for some reason) and now I am property subdued. Arms taped to my sides and legs taped together. Hopping off to bed now!!

Oh my goodness PDV, you are so cute in that reply here   I gotta admit you have me giggling over here about the 'duckie' tape thingie...

As to your post sweetSerenity, umm the commerical that seems2rub me wrong is that  brand of coughmints/breathmints (whatever they are)...
I believe it's called 'richolas' and it's showing some fella in the swiss alps dressed up in a pair of knickers with a robin hood like cap blowing into a horn and chanting aloud towards the mountains in his view...
Oh geez I dunno how2describe what he looks like but all I can say is when I hear the echo on tv of  "RICHOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAS" I run for the remote and change the channel darn fast...

LOLOL at Coco...yea that one is kinda weird.

I just have to respond to this, there are so many that just make me want to grow fingernails and scratch my eyeballs out: The mentos one, YES, completely irritating...I can't stand the Old Navy retro thing with that strange old woman, eck...and then there is the commercial for the Bite size Pizza rollups, I forget what they are called, with the two boys rolling around the kitchen in their chairs making the food and doing their homework at the same time.  For some odd reason I need to smack those kids off of thier rolley chairs. Oh, and for anyone who has Farmer Jack stores, doesn't their jingle on the radio make you want to impale your eardrums with a sharp object?  I even shop there, but still it makes me insane..

Okay that's enough, I'm starting to grit my teeth.

I don't like the commercial that has the guy butting heads with a mountain goat. It gives kids the idea they should do it (it's a Mountain Dew commercial I think - I've even seen it in the theater before a movie and BOY does that clunk! sound like it hurts when the heads meet!).

I find myself paying little attention to commercials, but I made a point of it for a day or so after this post began.

The most obnoxious commercial I saw within the past 24 hours was for BAYER aspirin.

"If you use BAYER aspirin while you're having a heart attack, it MIGHT just stop you from DYING... AND... It might even stop you from having a SECOND heart attack..."

So, folks - Stock up on Bayer aspirin if you're planning on having a heart attack soon...  I can't believe the AMA let this one get by them...

chuckling now @ Nan---and don't you just LOVE those pharmaceutical commercials for these new wonder drugs that always seem to end with a list of "possible" side effects that are far worse than the ailment they are to be prescribed for. It's almost dangerous just to watch the ads--one could DIE laughing.

The one that is really irritating to me right now is the GEICO commercial with the woman running down the street with one shoe, pretending to be a car and she has her little noisemaker to signal her daughter. It really gets on my nerves. It's weird because one of my favorite commercials is by GEICO too. The one where the gecko wants to change his name at the phone company to Kimodo Dragon. That one cracks me up.

I know nothing about your commercials, but I got an american advertising email.

The first lines referred to the events on sept. 11th

Then they said it was now maybe the time to upgrade your morgage and they gladly offered their services.

I couldn't believe my eyes, I got so mad I removed it at once. I lothe people who try to profit from other peoples sorrows.

I agree, that's low, trying to profit from a disaster.
I find the most irritating TV commercial Menards.  The man must be hard of hearing as he yells, "COME TO MENARDS FOR ALL YOUR NEEDS," or whatever so LOUDLY, I lower my volume 5 notches, then can't hear whatever follows.

ROTF@Nan...

Umm..well of course you won't know my commericals heh...we get some American one's here blech...hehehe...

My most irritating one here..hmmm....let me think...there are several - when I bother to watch tv at all...

There is one with a guy sitting in a car in  a traffic jam, next to his horrific mother who for no reason at all is going on about how he was such a cute little boy blah blah blah. Then four gorgeous (of course) girls all covered in light somehow miraculously pull up next to them in the traffic jam, see the mother - laugh at him (of course) and he 'tunes out' with Twix (a revolting chocolate bar)...coupled with irritating music...

it just drives me nuts...

then there's the one with the boy going backwards -ick, he even chews backwards...mows the lawn backwards...jumps fences in a single bound backwards - all because of some stupid little muesli bar (which you see him eating at the end - which is really the beginning...)

BLECH!!!!!!

The worst adverts right now are the ones that promote the upcoming programs-- by the time you get through watching the program you started on--you feel like you have already seen the next one -- a hundred times----arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh

Anything with Carrot Top is revolting. And the Ameritrade ad that has this guy playing tennis (badly) golf (worse) and can't even have a conversation at dinner because "his timing is off". The ad people were off on that one.

I find the most current 'Victoria Secret' ad to be far too adult for prime time viewing.

ANY - and I mean ANY ads for feminine hygiene products.  We have to sit and watch endless garbage about sanitary pads and even douching products...

Have we EVER seen a commercial for jock straps or athletic cups??...

There was one that was on about eight or so years ago that I hated. It was a commercial for Tide, and featured a mother trying to feed a baby. The baby didn't want to eat, and so of course the food was getting all over, which is where the Tide comes in. The commercial itself was ok, but it was the really gross sound effects that I couldn't stand.

Strange how the only commercial I can recall is one from years ago. I can't remember what they have on TV now.

God bless America, my home sweet home.

Nan---your earlier post reminded me of an old commercial for sanitary napkins---two women in a taxicab commiserating those days when women need "extra protection" and Walla! One woman pulls out an ENTIRE BOX of pads--personally, if I was having THAT BAD of a day? I don't think I'd leave the house!

I love/loved that Levi's commercial with the low cut jeans and all the belly-buttons were singing...hahaha..Cute stuff. "I'm coming out...and I want the world to know..got to let it show.."
