I had a thought..there is a place called Buy books on the web, that self publishes poets, its about $500 or $600, and I was thinking, if 10 of us got together, and chose our favorite poems, we could do it without too much of a financial hardship. I would be honored to share with some of you, any one interested? And not that the Voices on the Web is never coming out...but there are new poeple since then, and personally I have a lousy poem in there,I have so many better.

I had seen that too, Sandra, where they just print books as they are ordered. Do they let you go in with other poets and split the cost? That would be cool if they did. I would definitely be interested. I don't know too much about the industry, it being so new and all. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Yes.   Count me in, and e-mail me if you need any personal info like snail mail, telephone number, etc in order to coordinate more effectively.

I'd love to get involved, if you'd have me.  Perhaps if you need a tenth, keep me in mind.     Even if you're unfamiliar with my work.

So what now, should we all just gather up our favorite poems. (aack-how impossible), and contact the website, see if they will take us. Oh yeah, should do that first I guess.
Doreen I think its www.buybooksontheweb.com
I got info from them awhile ago, have to find it if all of you are interested we might be able to make this happen!
PS I just emailed them to see how we would go about this, with multiple authors. will keep this updated.

HI all this is what they said
"Hi Sandra,

The best way to do this is either have one person be in charge of the incoming money (royalties), or create a business representing all of you.

What's required is that we have only one social security number or federal ID number (for a business).

Best Regards,
Dave Giorgio

Where do you all think we go from here, if anywhere...

I'm sure we could do this, although I don't know what is involved in creating a business between the ones who participate. LOL! Do we just come up with a name and name ourselves, or is there some weird legal stuff we need to better understand before we venture in.  I think in order to entrust money to anyone, it will take a level of trust, so everyone involved must be aware that they will perhaps be trusting someone else with their money. Am I getting this right? LOL! Just getting my thoughts out here.  One social sec number? hmm...I'd like to know more about it. I think it would be good to e-mail them again, and see what if they can give us more indepth information before we all just jump in and hand our checks over. I don't think one can be too wary especially when it involves the internet.   Hope to get more thoughts on this! Laters for now!

You could form an "LLC", Limited Liability Company. Have officers and such. You'd have to get a tax ID number...and register the name with the state the company is formed in..set up a checking account in the company name, then when the money comes in, the royalties are paid into that account and checks cut for the various members of the company. This is time consuming though, someone will have to have the time to devote to the job....as well as coordinate the whole process. I'd ask an attorney for some advice if I were you.

Hi There - I wanted to give you a link of a place that will publish your work into a booklet for $17.95, or chapbooks with unlimited color photographs, or all of your works into a beautiful leather bound book (I have one) with poetic friends of mine, for a lot less than what you have been quoted.  The more purchased hte less expensive it gets, but he will also do you a personal booklet (a single one) for $17.95, and this is nice to keep your poetry collected in.  I do this every so often to keep them orderly in case I loose some actually.  I just wanted to give you you options to peruse, so here is the link to Tim's site:

The site is Artistic Wasteland and this is the page regarding the publications:

Is anyone willing to explore this?

For now  I say we give this thread a few more days to run. Send it to everyone you think will be interested. After a few days we begin to put this together however we are going to do it. Who is going to take a bit of 'charge'? It was catalinamoon's idea, so she has the right or option really.

Well, I think Mysteria's idea might be even better. What do you all think. I will go either way, if you still want to do a combo thing.

I'm still in the game.  I'm all for Mysteria's suggestion ... $17.95 for a paperback or $7.95 for a Chapbook.
Take the ball and run with it, Sandra

Sandra, In your original idea, was the company just publishing or was it publishing and marketing? Since it asked for ID # and royalty info. The other idea of self publishing to me meant it would just be published in booklet form to be marketed on your own. Either way, just would like to hear. For I do have my own business license and # that needs to be renewed in Sept. on a business that I never could complete due to time constraints. But your local court house can tell you what to do to obtain a license and # thru the state. Which means that all involved will have to claim royalty income on their taxes? Unless you are out of this country, which is a whole other matter. But I am interested and if I can help any way I will.

I'm looking forward to the results.

Regina, I have no clue on the answers to your questions.
I think I would prefer to go with Mysterias' suggestion, and I plan to check that website out..
The other was starting to sound too complex, with all of us interested, but one person to handle the money, royalties, etc..(assuming there were any)
Too bad someone won't just write to us all at Passions and beg us for a book, hm? By the way, Victoria said she would not go with them again..(By books on the web)
