Hi, the only Marina I have heard of was the wife of the man who supposedly killed President Kennedy in 1963 (Marina Oswald) For some reason, I always remembered her name.
Its a pretty name. I know lots of Marisa's, does that count ?

Hi ZZZ,

Well, to answer one of your questions, I am the only Marina in Passions that I know of.  It is my given name though many people do ask if really is.  I too come from a british background and my name actaully came from the very old cartoon "Stingray"  I am only 33 years old and born in Canada shortly after my parents, my brother and sister emigradated over from England. So when my Mom became pregnant with me, many names were placed into a hat and it was the one that came out.  It was my brother's choice because Stingray had been his favourite show back home.

It is a British name as well as , Russian and Spanish descent.  Many famous Russian skaters have this name.  A great deal of Spanish women also.  In all my years, being the one Marina I ever knew, it was strange for me to visit the Carribbean and find so many women with that name.  I believe there also was a Queen of Spain with this name.

So there you go!    Any more questions..just let me know!

Perhaps we have entered the twilight zone.  I have known one Marina in my life...Marina Mills, as I believe Marina at PIP was once registered...(sorry if I'm mistaken).  So I went to the Marina I knew and said, 'Do you write poetry by any chance?'.  She laughed in return as I had expected.  I told her about her name sake here.  That's my entire life experience with the name, though now that I know it...I think it's a beautiful name.

Well my name isn't Marina, and I don't know anybody named Marina, but I am positive there could be one here......it sounds like it could be a latin name.

Of all the meanings I have come across for the name Marina, I believe it means "Maiden of the Sea" or Sea Maiden.

Here's something very strange I got from this web site: Kabalarian Philosophy behind Marina

Your name of Marina makes you easy-going and refined, but detracts from your physical vitality. You desire all the finer things in life--lovely clothes, home, furniture, and environment. However, procrastination is your worst enemy, and you find yourself lacking the ambition to make your dreams a reality. People are inclined to take advantage of your sympathetic, tractable nature. You naturally attract people with problems who seek your understanding and advice. You can give good advice although it is unlikely that you would follow it yourself. You would be most successful in situations where you can use your skills in diplomacy in handling people, but where you are not under pressure or required to carry responsibility and make decisions. It is difficult for you to be individual and make your own decisions, for you lack self-confidence. Your desire for sweet, rich foods could cause overweight, circulatory problems, or weakness in the kidneys.

That's just a little too strange for my taste, and I'm sure it doesn't describe any Marina that I know.
