First of all, I am so sick of poetry.com that it drives me batty.
However a friend of mine and I are going to try something, and see if we can get something proven on them.
I'm writing a poem about what a scam poetry.com is, and so is she.  We're going to submit them and see if we get "finalist" letters.  Shouldn't that do something?
I really want to take action against these con artists, but have no clue where to start.
The first step is seeing if we can prove that they don't read our poems.
So if anyone else would like, feel free to join us in the experiment.
~Allan

Being the "friend" referred to above, I must agree that this HAS to be stopped. And if enough of us speak up, maybe our voices will be heard. Its an unfair and down right cruel thing that they are doing. And personally I don't intend on putting up with the scandle any longer. But I need your help to do something about this injustice. So please, just do this one favor for all poets. Write a scandle poem and send it in, just see what the reaction is. Then we will take the next step when we get to it. Thank you greatly.

If you are to include PIP's name, I believe it would be right to ask Ron's permission first.

Go for it Allan! Actually it was made quite public on 20/20.

They did a show on these guys and had a whole class of kindergartners submit poems, in which, every kid in the class got the same letter back.

T'would be funny though, but you have to actually purchase the book for it to appear in there, if you wrote a poem stating just what they are, and the published it! LOL

Then again, only those people who purchase that book will read it.

I don't plan on referring to PIP... this is just a general concern.

Oh what a fantastic idea! I did a similiar experiment a little while back and I was nothing short of outraged.

hey guys,
been there, done that!
Back in the eighties i sent
a bunch of stuff to these folks
and was "selected" to be published
on all of them for a mere $49.95
per book. I sent them planned tripe
and was voted "Silver Poet of the
Year in 1989"!
Now they are trying to entice with
the laurette (sp?) carrot.
bah freaking humbug!

Don't think anything short of
atomic weapons will stop this
greenback machine! And after the
rest of us are radioactive dust
those clowns will be publishing
the surviving cockroach population...

not my favorites either, in case
ya hadn't noticed, lol

LOL, satire time!

Actually, I've never been to poetry.com.  But  I will try and check em out and cook up one of my merciless satires.

Well, must admit they got me trapped too.
Being Dutch, I didn't know about those things going on. There's a web site (poetry too) who's exposed Poetry.com, as well as simular others, on their site.
I'm not sure wich site it is at the moment, but will see if I can find it again and then I'll let you know.

So I decided to go nowhere else than PIP and My Poetry Garden.
