I cry. Screaming doesn't do it for me. So I cry.

I'm going to make a decision soon.. do I want to keep my job, my home, my internet connection or do I want to live in a shopping cart on the corner..all my worldly goods stuffing into it...I tell ya' that corner looks mighty inviting! (Work is not fun right now!)

Sharon, I know you've been having a rough time of it lately! Is it that bad that you want to quit?  Don't live on the corner.  Start looking elsewhere where they'll pay you what you're actually worth!
You do everything and leave no one accountable for what they don't do. Maybe just start looking for something else, and then use a vacation day to go to an interview!  If I had a place of work to give you I'd pay you what you deserve.
I know what you mean though, and I can imagine you're getting very frustrated to say the least.  I hope you'll find something that will give you the respect and pay you deserve, for your kind of dedication Sharon!

Ok...here it comes...how sad and pathetic is this? (Violin's in the background)

I am self taught on the computer. Now, I am teaching our new hires everything..people from other departments come to me or call me with questions....I am not the Help Desk!

I am an 'idea' person. I can't help it. I've made so many improving ideas at work that it's hard to tally them. But no one else will step up and take the initiative to make suggestions....If I don't, things don't get done...even my supervisor told me I was holding the department together...

Well, you know what! I'm tired of it...I want that shopping cart on the corner (I hope there's a plug for my laptop!)

Is this sad and pathetic!

Sad that you're doing everyone's work? yes!
Pathetic? no...I just hope that you're at least getting the recognition for what you've accomplished and not someone else taking the credit for it?

Like they did to my hubby for a while there.
You are self motivated and that's great, and if you're holding the department together, then why don't they give you your supervisor's job?  If they push the work on you and leave it to you to do, and you pick up all the slack all the time, then they expect that from you.

NO CORNERS though Sharon! I'll have to come over there now, and we don't want that! hehe

Find somewhere else where you'll actually get the benefits and respect you deserve!

I know how hard it is Sharon. I've been there. I was given the same advice that I gave you awhile back.......stop doing everything because it is not appreciated....I didn't listen either, I couldn't, just like you can't. Sometimes it is a curse being so dependable and conscientious, isn't it? I agree with Rebecca that it is time to move on. Line up some interviews and take a day or two off so that you can go to them. It is very sad, but take it from me, nothing will change where you are now, even if you try to talk to them about it. I did and it did no good. Why should they change anything? That would mean that they would have to do some work! Heaven forbid!! Of course, no raise is in the budget this year, don't you know? Why should there be a raise for you when it will mean less of a raise for them? The ones who don't do anything, or do next to nothing. Ever notice how they get paid more for some reason?(is my anger showing...hehehehe) But geeze, forget about that corner will ya?!

Yep like Denise said Sharon. Bill and Hillary are moving don't ya know?  LOL

They ask you Sharon because you had the motivation to learn it, and they know you know it. That is a good thing! But too much knowledge unleashed on them....hmmn

It would be one thing if they took that and tried to help eleviate (sp) your work load, but NO.  Instead it can get very frustrating when you know and they know that, and instead send everything your way. For you it's stressful, no doubt!  On the other hand, they know who to give things to, and know that it will get done, whether your overworked and under paid or not! Right?

You have nothing to lose by looking around at what else is out there and what they have to offer. You don't have to take anything you don't want to. Right?  So at least go look. See if you can do some searching and find out the 1999 pay survey, and find out about your job and what the "pay" is supposed to be.  Then you can really know if you're making what you should be, and it also gives you something to haggle with. Yes, haggle, Sharon! You at least need to stand up for yourself.

Just say, "I'm worth it!"  Cause you are!

Thanks Whtdove.  I guess it's just an overload of life.  Too much to do, too little time.  A lot of stress due to my recent illness (which has finally been diagnosed, yay!) and my boyfriend's severe migranes.  Some fallouts with friends and a reoccurance of depression once again.  And just when things lighten up a bit, life throughs you another loop...sometimes it's all too much, you know?  Thanks for letting me unload a bit, it's amazing what a few words and some poetry can do for you.

I can certainly relate to that. My hubby went through severe migranes. So bad he'll get a hole in his vision. This past year has been one heck of a bad year for those loops of life. Depression and all of it, I was through it last year. Phew, I welcomed this one with open arms.

I know it's tough, hang in there, a brighter day will come along one of these days.

If you don't me asking, what have you been diagnosed with?  I hope whatever it is you can get well.  I won't tell ya to chin up, as I know that doesn't do much good.

But I can keep you in my prayers

Thanks for caring, Whtdove.     I have been experiencing dizziness, headaches, and blackouts since November. I've gone through just about every test you can imagine (Hypoglacimia, MRI, EKG, etc.) and to no avail.  Finally, I went to a Neurologist and I've been diagnosed with Autonomic Nervous System Dysfunction.  Which bascially means a few things.

1) When I move body positions, my blood pressure should compensate for it, but it does not.  Instead, my heartrate goes up, which causes problems.

2) I breathe about twice the rate of an average person.  Instead of breathing once every 6 seconds, I breathe once every 3.  The shallow breaths and the frequency of those breaths creates a sort of slow motion hyperventilation.  That brings about the dizziness also.

Both of these can mostly be prevented with concentrating on my breathing and exercising to help my blood pressure out.  Stress also plays a large part, so until my stres levels decrease, this won't go away entirely.  And it may return if I become really stressed again. So, it's kind of a lifelong thing to deal with.  But nothing too serious anyway!

Geez Krista...that's really not so simple.
One domino affect to the other.  I'm sorry to hear that, but yes, it could have been worse. At least they are things you can work on to help them.

It might benefit you to look into stress reduction or something.  God works for me!
I shall keep you in my prayers, and I hope this all gets better for you, at least controlable for you!     ~hugs~
