Well i havent been here that long but when i get online this is the place where i am usually at. I usually post in the Teen Forum but then i started to explore.

Well lets see i dont post alot of poetry that often(my brain doesnt like to function when i want to write). I like reading the other work there. The most post i think that i have posted in one day is probably 2. Some people in the Teen Forum post like 5 poems at once. And someone got about 7 up there then changed his name.

It just aggravates me that alot of people post there poems to get responses, but it just gets to me that they dont like replying to others poems. They just want to see what people say about them. This one girls profile i looked at had 15 posts and for her own poetry 15 posts. She doesnt even reply to other poems but expects replies.

Im just mad if i am rambling on and on im sorry. It just gets to me that people can can be so inconsiderate.

Thanks for listening to me complain!!!

Erin, you are absolutely right! Posting more than 2 or 3 poems in one day is aganst the rules, and we moderators do our best to punish anyone who breaks this rule. You are right, doing this is very inconsiderate to the other members. I hope that everyone reading this understands that. Thank you for bringing this subject to light!

Erin,

I understand your frustration. The forum guidelines are pretty clear, IF they are read. Some people in Teens (or other forums)may feel uncomfortable commenting on others' work initially, but should begin to reply after a few days. If not, then I think it may fall to the moderator of the forum to point it out to them, and the fact that they will get more replies if they reply to others work.

Of course, it's possible they just want to express themselves, and don't care about replies. That would also call for a moderator to point out the manner in which the forums are conducted (give and take, just like the real world).

I have never been to Teens, but the same thing happens in other forums also. Perhaps if you try to remember that you cannot change others, only yourself. Ignore them, and try not to get too frustrated!

Hope I helped,
Kris

KRIS~~~it just makes me mad that they expect me to reply to their poems when they cant even acknowledge the fact that i do to post poems. this is a place where i like to be. but its unfair that they can give others the respect that they get from us. just like you said about if they reply they may get more replies, cause they are meeting new people. i just dont understand. im kinda frustrated that i spend just as much time and work into my writing as they do. i may not post as many poems as they do but if im giving them credit they should give some back to me.

LOVEBUG~~~you should understand what i am saying (i would name some names but i dont want to do that) you are in the Teen Forum i see poems from you. but there are a couple people i have seen recently that have alot of poems posted and its like well should i post a reply or no? should i give them the credit they deserve when they dont give it to me? and in the end i do. cause they have feelings to. by the way did you close some of the poems posted there? i just happened to notice alot of someones poems where it was locked.

THANK YOU BOTH FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO HEAR ME COMPLAIN!!!I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!

Hey Erin - this is a prevalent concern and you are right to be annoyed and upset by it.

(I do think Love Bug's term 'punish' is a bit excessive for first time offenders, though - lol.      )

But, no, multiple postings are taken very seriously and those guilty of it are always informed...

As to the lack of replying - it happens and perhaps always will. Everyone likes to have their poetry read and unfortunately some choose not to reply very often to other's works. For some it is time, for others - indifference, and I am sure there are many other reasons too.

Don't give up - vent it here

Erin - Nice to see you expressing your feelings here - and you're right... I agree with my esteemed friends here... You can post as little as you choose and read as much as you like... We actually have a very special adult member here at Passions who writes so little poetry, and reads and comments so much, she's been deemed to be the "Official Passions Reader"... Neat, huh??

Remember, too, that those who demand attention rarely get it... Perhaps you could limit your responses to those who reciprocate with you... If the people who are pushy about wanting responses don't get any, they'll either move on or start reading and participating.

It's nice to have you here, Erin... Thanks for your input.

Erin, alot of people around here are victims of the Passions Plummet, where you post a poem and 2 hours later it's on page 23! LOL
And I agree with you and understand completely, you've worked so hard to create what you think is your best poem yet, and poof it disappears into never-never land! I guess the only way to remedy that, is to keep extending your hand, with your replies. Eventually you'll build up a core group of pals who will care enough to open your poems and see what you have posted today. It takes time, be patient! But it will happen, stick-to-ittiveness is an important thing!
I agree with Kris that it's only you who you have any control over....
LOL and I do agree with all these other people too, including Nan (she's a teacher, we gotta be nice to her *HUG2Nan*)
Good luck and I'll keep an eye out for your stuff

Heather~~~its not that i want all these people to reply to my work, its just that they dont reply to any poems. They post theirs to get replies and thats all. It just aggravates me that they would want me to reply to their poems(its not like i have a choice cause half of the poems post are theirs) when they cant even look at mine.< !signature-->

I’m a little confused now, I’ve read the guidelines several times but never the rules, where are they?

Would it be possible to update them so they reflect the guidelines? Maybe that is where the confusion is coming from, the guidelines state:

‘We also won't discourage you from posting multiple (but different) poems back-to-back. We would, however, suggest that you will likely find other Members respond much more positively to your work when you stagger it over longer periods of time.’

If I ever find the rules I’ll compare the two but from the above posts it seems clear that the rules don’t echo the guidelines.

Thanks for the chance to read and reply.

Craig

Yes, I admit your general rule. That every poet is a fool:
But I myself may serve to show it. That every fool is not a poet.

Hi Erin,

I checked the stats and as of today, for each post you originated, you have replied over 15 times. I think that's a pretty darn good average and I think we should expect everyone to at least try for something on that order. Congratulations.

As a suggestion, you certainly don't have time to read everything posted. As Nan said, maybe you can optimize your time at PIP by excluding those posters who refuse to comment on your and other's works. In any event, you certainly don't owe them a response just because they post prolificly.

I understand and agree with your irritation at their attitude but this is what works best for me.

Good luck,
Pete

Erin, good of you to point out what is an aggravation to a lot of us! As has been pointed out, when you see someone posting, posting, posting and not a reply to be seen, allow that person's work to receive "The Passionate Plummet Award".

Then, as you have been doing yourself, which so many have pointed out, is to go ahead and reply to others. It never hurts to continue with a good example.  If you are replying to someone who tends to post more than respond, then invite that person to view your work and welcome them to comment on it. Sometimes, believe it or not, some folks think they can only write, and are a little timid about offering comments and/or constructive words.

Thanks for bringing this topic to the right Forum, too!

Sunshine - you hit the nail on the head with your comment that some people are a little timid about posting comments.  Take me for example.  I'm always afraid of what people will say, and so I hold back from posting anything that could cause people to respond *innocent eyes blinking*.

Hugs to you, sweet lady.

Erin - Great comment - I'm afraid I am sometimes guilty of this, but I try not to be this way.

LJA you holding back on something? ROFL! Don't believe a word of it Erin!!

They're all right here! If they post too many, just let em' fall. You don't need to respond to every post, or any at all.
You might want to email this person and introduce yourself, or make a comment on one of their poems inviting them to read yours.

I hope it all works out for you

Good maybe it will sink in now! Ya think

What I meant was to reply to ONE poem and STATE in that reply a poem of yours you'd like this person to view. If that don't work, then it's just pure RUDENESS!

It can be irritating, but as Craig said, it's not forbidden in the guidelines. Just reply to what you wish to reply to, if any at all, and let the rest go...

Hey everyone...I had no clue this post was going on until now...I've just came on from the Teen Fourm and it has quieted down a bit actually! It'a running a bit smoother now, but I just hope that everyone has been able to read the guildlines and see that we should follow the rules in order to be able to work all these problems out. Hopefully they will be worked out and ERIN, I'm one of your biggest fans btw...you'll see my repling any day!!
