In an upside-down garden

Okay, here it goes. I was just wondering if anyone would like to answer a few questions from me. You don't have to if you don't want to, it's completely up to you all!

1. Why do you cry?

2. Are you for or against abortion? Why or why not?

3. Are you for or against the death penalty? Why or why not?

4. Are you for or against assisted suicide? Why or why not?

Anyways, I just wanted to see people's views on this. And please, no critisizing other people's beliefs because they don't match your own.

Anyways, my answers (If anybody cares) :

1. I cry because I miss my friend Jesica, my ex-boyfriend Justin, and because I am not perfect enough for my mother.

2. I am against abortion. B/c that's killing a little innocent baby.

3. I am for the death penalty. B/c this guy killed my friend Jesica, and I don't think he deserves to live.

4. I am against assisted suicide b/c I think it's wrong.

well, c-ya all around. Love yas!

Allysa - I have a feeling you're not going to get many bites on this one...   But in the name of starting trouble, being the PRM (Passions' Resident Miscreant) that I am - I'll take a pot-shot at this...

quote:
1. Why do you cry?

Welllllll... I have to admit that this one is the hardest one out of the bunch as far as I'm concerned. A few reasons I might cry: Hear a song that reminds me of something I've lost; When VERY depressed; Losing someone important... I'm sure there's more...but I'll leave that...

quote:
2. Are you for or against abortion? Why or why not?

This is a question, in my mind, with multiple sides. I believe there are times when abortion is the best option. Some people aren't in situations where having a baby would be good for anyone involved - including the child. Certainly for medical conditions, when the mother's life is in danger, or as the result of a violent crime. On the flip side, I don't believe it should be used as a post-facto method of birth-control.

quote:
3. Are you for or against the death penalty? Why or why not?

Another barbed question. On the one hand, I am wholly for the death penalty. If there is a defined consequence, we could eliminate a good portion of the crime facing us... as long as that penalty was definitive and acted upon - and  don't mean after twenty years of deliberation. True, an innocent person might suffer here and there, but I think as a whole it would be a better thing. Again though, on the flip side - Statistics show that violent crimes rise by a large amount following the death penalty being enacted. There seems to be some connection with a state killing someone and the attitude of the people in that area. So far, there's been nothing conclusive drawn from this as I know, but the numbers don't lie. Still, I'm in favor of it.

4. Are you for or against assisted suicide? Why or why not?

Absoutely for it. It is our life - we choose how to live it, I think we should be able to choose how to end it. I abhor the thought of lying in a coma and being a burden on my family, or being paralyzed and unable to fend for myself at all. Like the abortion, I don't think it is something that should be carelessly employed, but I do think that it has much value in many situations.

Thanks for asking these Allysa.

Chris

Ok.....allysa, you're not asking huge question, but many. I think it's just too much for me to handle in one little post.
I'd probably faint after all the typing.

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!

Allysa, thank you for coming to the Alley. I've spent some time looking over your set of questions, and thinking about them. I have a feeling that a good many of these questions would fit much better in Philosophy, as they pertain to societal issues, with the exception of the crying one. In fact, if memory serves, most of your societal questions have been stated in the Philosophy forum, albeit not recently. With that in mind, I'm going to copy this thread to Philosophy. I would like to notify you of this, but I cannot find your email.
