What are your favorite moments of comedy? I'm talking movies, skits, radio--anything that made you literally laugh out loud?

I can think of three favortites immediately--Chris Farley competing against Patrick Swayze in audition for the last spot in a male stripper revue(Saturday Night Live)...AND...

Jim Carey, singing Jefferson Airplane's "Somebody to Love," in 'Cable Guy'! (I snicker every time I hear that song now...)and FINALLY...

Meg Ryan, doing her famous "fake orgasm" in the restaurant scene from "When Harry Met Sally"...

so, how about sharing a smile--tell...what makes YOU choke on your popcorn?

Ah, serenity, one of my favorites for sure was George Segal trying to make a tv out of an aquarium and giving a news report to Barbra Streisand in the "Owl and the Pussycat". Actually there were so many funny bits in that movie, I laugh until I cry every time I see it!!

In the movie "Liar Liar" when Jin Carrey beats the hell out of himself to get out of having to stay at court.

And the movie "Happy Gilmore" when Adam Sandler and Bob Barker start fighting.

Hmm...there have been so many...

the time when I first looked in the mirror....hmmm..the time when I first looked in the mirror with the light on...

sorry

ahem

There are so many K!!! How should I know what to pick!!!

A comedian I saw not so long who made a fly ambulance...in a high pitched little voice...
'bz bz bz bz bz bz' to the tune of sirens...HAHHA

Being John Malkovich - all of it really - that is one freaky movie...prolly the bit though where the chimpanze gets called to help his parents get away from the hunters:

'Quick son, untie your mother and me before they come back!' in subtitles...

HAHAHAHAHAHA...oh god you should have seen me laugh - I nearly feel off my couch

oh and Hercules Returns - GO and see this film - it's a weird Australian one (heh - what's new...heh) - but find it, no matter where in the world you are...

Short plot rundown: Australian guy decides to open up old rundown movie theatre...big wig in the movie business opposes all competition. The movie guy decides to play the last film that was played in the theatre on opening night which just happens to be 'Hercules' - the Italian version. Big wig sabotages it. Thus - the film has no subtitles on opening night.

So - the guy and his colleagues invent their own dialogue...

please imagine the ensuing chaos...

Maree and I watched this while I stayed with her...we laughed soooo hard we made a comedic duo ourselves...

Ah, my most favorite moment of laughter is when as a foursome or sixsome, someone says something that it totally inane, but most deliciously funny, that we are all soon laughing ourselves into tears...and looking at one laughing only lends itself to gut-wrenching giggles that won't quit till the tears stop, which seem to have no idea of stopping until someone has to get up and be excused to visit the restroom....

now, THAT's comic relief....

Gosh, a lot of things make me laugh..like the time I was playing a game with my kids, my son said something funny and I turned and laughed!! Unfortunately I had a mouth full of Diet Coke at the time...needless to say my son and the wall behind him were soaked!! I thought the look on his face was the funniest part!!! LOL

I watch so many movies and some are so funny to me..not the usual though. Everyone told me that 'Something About Mary' was hysterical. I didn't laugh at all! But a movie called 'The Full Monty' had me ROARING! And "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" from Australia. And "Dead/Alive" from New Zealand (so bad it was so funny!). So I have weird tastes in humor...suffice it to say if the humor is dry, I love it.

My vote is for Monty Python -- definitely the Grail.

Sven,
Can we get more of those tapes?

I'd also add "Spinal Tap".
paraphrase:

"See, this amplifier goes to eleven. When I need that extra power, that extra punch, I can turn it up to eleven. Everybody else can only go to ten.  Nobody can go to eleven. See."

"Why don't you just make ten more powerful?"

Pause

"This one goes to eleven."

I thank you all..but Brad? Absolutely "This is Spinal Tap" and that moment you spoke of?
Is so true to form and ironic, I do thank you for reminding me...and I also love the "work out the harmony scene" at Elvis Presley's grave at Graceland, to 'Heartbreak Hotel'...a classic indeed.

and guys?...Monty Python RULES.

Just watched "American Beauty" AGAIN last night...and when Kevn Spacey throws the asparagus against the wall--it just gets me every time. (I hate to admit it, but that is such a "serenity" move. And by the way, such a thing is only effective if it is out of character.) PEACE, good poet people.
