Well about 20 minutes before midnight I went to bed, and I didn't peek out the windows. When I woke this morning, they said around midnight it started to snow. They are calling blizzard conditions and our wind chills are -23.

We have quite a few inches of snow, schools are closed  . That means I'm trapped in the house with 4 kids today! Aggghhh! Someone rescue me!

Ron keep looking at those paradise posters. LOL

Snowball fight anyone?

I had to turn down the air conditioner so I could concentrate on reading this. And then I had to refill the ice in my lemonade, apply sunscreen and close the shades a bit as the sun was in my eyes. What were you saying?

I heard about the anticipated blizzard last night on the news (predictions of a foot of snow today, with more to come), so decided to leave my artificial paradise this morning for a quick run to the store before the roads became impassable. I don't really need anything, but there are a few items that could stand restocking.

Didn't happen.

I kinda forgot that in this kind of cold weather you really have to start a car occasionally if you want the battery to stay charged. Sigh.

Those who insist that snow and Holiday Cheer are related should probably avoid looking out the windows this year. Y'all might just burst from all that Joy!

It's Kansas and it's cold and the snow is too darn dry to pack...it just crunches and crunches underfoot, sending delightful shivers up your spine...

and it's a gosh darn SNOWGLOBE!

Hey Nan...when you peek in...thanks for the angel...I love her!

Sharon I forgot to tell you that I put snow in that glass. Ya know what they say bout yellow snow now don't ya?

Elizabeth throwing one back at ya! WHAM! Knocked her out. hehe kidding

Ron OMG, yes you should occasionally start the car. We have more coming, heavy stuff tonight and winds are gonna pick up, creating drifts. Why don't you take your battery out and bring it in the house? Keep it warm, so when you want to go out you can pop it in and GO! At least you'll be ok for a while, now let us know if you REALLY have to have something, we'll send Sven out on his snowmobile! hehehe

Sharon heads up, gotcha with a snowball!

The poor telephone guy had to come today in this and install another telephone line for me.      Now my dad has to travel and come and hook the inside up for me, so I can be on my puter and actually talk on the phone at the same time. Woohoo!

Melanie, if you want to come sleep in this stuff, have at it! LOL it's cold and windy and well you get mighty damn cold after a while. Like Ron's battery. LOL

Splat gotcha with a snowball Melanie! You can put that in your bed and sleep on it.  I'll trade ya!
Without the snow of course.

Susan if I could find a way to send it to you I would. You and Melanie come for a visit, build a snowman, have a snowball fight, and then you can go home to the warm climate. See while I was in Georgia and teasing my family, like Sharon is doing to me, now it's come back to get me, by giving me a blizzard the last 2 years, the only 2 years I've been back here. LOL

OUCH that hit my nose LoL...Well, I dont really feel much like driving out there at the moment LoL, I just drove to and from Nevada this weekend and Im kinda sick of driving right now LoL, and God knows I dont have money for a plane ticket, so I guess I will be wishing for a white winter in southern california LoL yeah right, like that will ever happen!  So I will have a peaceful sleep tonight that I am sleeping in the snow in front of your house with a t-shirt and shorts on =)  As for that snowball you hit my nose with *winds up and throws*  haha got you back!  But you know, I couldnt sleep with the snowball in my bed though, it would melt in one second...shoot, it would melt before I even got it home LoL.  Oh well, wishful thinking, one day Jesse and I will move where it snows...and then I can rub it in to everyone out here LoL

hehehe    Well for a couple years it might be fun to live in the snow, but I tell ya, I'd rather be south. Rather be back in Georgia. It did snow a little bit out there, but just enough to dust the ground, make it pretty, and it was gone a few hours later. Now that I can handle!
And yep, you wouldn't wanna sleep in a wet bed now.

I could almost bring it in the house without taking it out of the car, Rebecca. The Miata doesn't take up a whole lot of room.

Getting the battery out, however, is a bit of chore. Getting TO the battery is a chore (it's in the trunk). Which is the only reason I didn't hook up the battery charger to it this morning. No hurry. I figure I'll get to it "soon."

As it turns out, my non-trip this morning was serendipitous. Y'all know how I hate crowds and long lines, and according to tonight's news I wasn't the only person heading for the store today. I hear it's almost impossible to find a loaf of bread for sale. Fortunately, my intention was just to "top off" an already adequate supply of groceries. I figure I have enough to last until about mid-January, and we're bound to have a break in the weather before then.

Right?

Rebecca... Take those ruggers out in the snow and make snow angels with them.. It makes it all worthwhile....

Ron... Wanna borrow my super duper battery charger upper?... It'll start the Miata right up... It's a "must have" item - for sure...  I still have no snow.. Almost got a bit the other day.. but it wasn't quite cold enough....   ... um... How many Colon-ites does it take to form a line?... 2?..3?..4?... You sure it wasn't just Fawn and her family at the store?

LOL Ron! A break in the weather in January? LOL  one never knows. We're dropping out here to -40 with the wind chills.  God, brrrr, just thinking about it. Ron just drive that Miata right on in there, blast the heat (if you get the battery going)and then you'll really have a tropical paradise. (That is if you don't fumigated)

Nan they've been out a couple times today playing and building snow forts.
Baby couldn't go out cause her momma didn't bring her any snowpants. She would have froze in no time.

Ok, dinner and out to shovel once again, maybe if I'm not too exhausted after the second time shoveling, I can make a snow angel too.

Well Nan, if I waited for this to melt, I'll be in here a long time. We've way over 8" already. The plow was only down our street once today. The main roads are a mess, they just can't keep up with it all. The winds are blowing and the snow is drifting to 4'-5' high.

I need to get to a store soon. So I shovel my way out, why? Cause my darn snowblower don't work anymore

I guess I was too subtle. Allow me to rephrase: I can see why children would want to build snow men, snow forts, and snow angels, but fail to understand why they would want to build snow shovels.

Nan, the snow pants and snow boots are obviously parts of the snow man (along with the snow shirts and, of course, the very infamous snow tophats). And I ain't even gonna touch snow blower.

Yea, it's pretty bad down this way, too, Kit. I'm not sure how much snow fell (both the road and driveway have been lost), but it was enough to close down just about everything. Schools, of course, most meetings, a lot of factories, even a mall or two. I wonder if that will bump Christmas back a day or two?

Better hurry before the snow really freezes though, wind chills are -38 today.

So here *throwing snow at you*...building snowman with big hugs and cheery smiles.

And the river has been up and down like, a tarts kn....., I mean like a yoyo. It is cold but when isn't it, but obviously not as cold as it is there.

I always listen to the Michigan station ... it's a pretty good indicator of what's about to hit us next, lol. Even Sarnia was closed this morning, and the 401 down to Windsor.

More snow coming tomorrow they say ... who ordered all this stuff, and is there a return policy?

Debbie, that's just what I loved about Georgia! It snowed when I was out there, enough to make it pretty, and then was gone.
Enjoy it while it lasts. LOL

We're headed for another snow storm they say.
Expecting another 1-5 inches today, and another 1-3 inches tonight. And more snow coming this week too. Anyone out there got a snowblower???

We really got hit badly with all the snow then a full day of rain “on top of” the snow … and now several more inches of fresh snow on the now solid frozen snow. My husband was out on top of the roof Saturday in the freezing rain … shoveling the roof!!! No kidding!!!

Ours is frozen snow too, but we're getting plenty of fresh soft stuff now. Winter storm watches out all over now, expecting more tomorrow, and Thurs too.  Thank God for warm houses.

Snow blowers out here have been sold out of all stores, along with the salt and snow shovels. (that's what I meant by asking)...seems everyone has one but me.
LOL, well at least I have a shovel, it's just a bit rougher that's all.

Guess what Elizabeth and Krista??? My school was closed... for 2 inches!!!!!!

Bwahahahaha!

But this is WV! We have one snow plow for the entire county, and the roads are horrible. Some hollows are still unpaved. We have some salters, but they won't do any good. It's too daggone cold! It's 5 degrees!!! No, not 5 windchill.. the windchill is about -20. (I know that's nothing compared to your weather, Krista, but it's extreme for my area)

The weirdest thing is that a couple of days ago, it was 60 degrees and raining! That's why the roads are covered in a sheet of ice, I suppose.

According to tonight's news, it has now snowed 17 out of the first 19 days of December. They are beginning to compare this season to the winter of 1978 (which, not incidentally, was the year - and the reason - I left Michigan and moved to California).

Last Friday, knowing I had to relent and finish my Christmas shopping, I called a local company to plow my driveway. The driver got his 4-wheel-drive pickup stuck six feet into my yard. Fortunately, the same company also does towing, and a phone call quickly brought help. Remembering that I live in the sticks, and driveways tend to be a bit on the long side, it took him close to two hours, all told. The snow he moved is piled only a few inches shorter than my garage roof, and makes a grand wind breaker. I'm thinking about stringing some lights, hanging a few snow shovels off it, and calling it my Christmas Tree this year.

I did manage to get out the following day, Saturday, and nearly completed my shopping. Only two more gifts to go. Unfortunately, another storm swept through Sunday, dropping four or five inches, which quickly drifted to a bit over a foot (except where my new wind breaker was protecting me). Monday afternoon. The Miata was backed into the garage, meaning I could get a running start, and I thought perhaps I could barrel my way through. Nope. I guess the Miata probably isn't the best choice for a barreling car. I was officially stuck.

You know, it's kind of funny. I can sit in this house for weeks on end, sometimes forgetting how long it's been since I've left, and it never bothers me. But within ten minutes of knowing I can't go anywhere, I found myself with a rampant case of cabin-fever. I think I better understand, now, why some guys wait until AFTER they're married to start chasing women. The human mind is a funny thing.

Well, at seven o'clock tonight, long after it had grown dark, another truck finally arrived and cleared the way for another shopping trip tomorrow. Assuming it doesn't snow too hard before then. Wish me luck.

ROFL Ron!  Always want something when we can't have it. Never will there be a time when you're so thirsty for water, as the time when you're not allowed to have it. LOL

We've got  something like 19" of snow already, and they're still calling for more.

Good luck to you Ron, I hope you make it out safely to get the rest of your shopping done.
Speaking of which, I need to get out and get mine done too.

Look at it this way, Ron... There's not really ANYTHING better on the other side of the snowbank than there is on your side of it... besides... The neighbors can't spy on you now...
