Alright, now being a person who hates chocolate I do not know why I am posting this, but a question has been boggling my mind lately...

How can you have white chocolate?  The thing that makes chocolate, chocolate is the cocoa and there isnt any in white 'chocolate' so how can it be white chocolate?  I personally like white 'chocolate' and cant stand chocolate but that has nothing to do with this little tid-bit.  Just something that has been bothering me lately!

According to The Chocolate FAQ
quote:
White chocolate is somewhat of a misnomer. In the United States, in order to be legally called 'chocolate' a product must contain cocoa solids. White chocolate does not contain these solids, which leaves it a smooth ivory or beige color. Real white chocolate is primarily cocoa butter, sugar, milk and vanilla. There are some products on the market that call themselves white chocolate, but are made with vegetable oils instead of cocoa butter. Check the label to avoid these cheap imitations. White chocolate is the most fragile form of chocolate; pay close attention to it while heating or melting it.

And if there's anything else you want to know about chocolate, including the difference between cocoa solids and cocoa butter (both by-products of processing):

Ever had the white chocolate mousse at TCBY?
Yummmmmmmmy. But even that can't compare to real honest to goodness chocolate.

Severn...That is weird that you were thinking that yourself, and you're right, who cares cause it is yummy, but it has alwasy boggled my mind!

Elizabeth...LoL, I mean what I say, I don't like chocolate, never have, even when little.  Don't know why, just don't care for it...Im one of the weird ones, I know!!

Dopey_Dope...Yes, white 'chocolate' is good, but I still have questions to ask LoL!  Glad you don't though, enjoy it without questions =)

Ron...Very intersting I must say.  Thats about all I can say.  It answers some questions, thanks!

Prometheus...No I have never had white chocolate mousse at TCBY.  I like white 'choc' but I dont indulge in sweets very often.  However, have you ever had white chocolate covered honey suckle?  It is VERY VERY sweet can only handle a bite or two, but it is delicious!!

Melanie you're not alone. Very rarely do I ever eat chocolate. Just never cared too much for it. Now hot chocolate, I love that stuff once in a while, but as for all those chocolate bars...not me.

Especially white chocolate, I just can't stand that stuff.

I, myself, do not particularly care for chocolate.  You can give me some for christmas and I will still have it by the summer.  On the other hand if you give me white chocolate, it is gone in under sixty seconds.  Love that white chocolate.

I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but, I do like milk chocolate every once in a while. I'm the type of person who will get a box of chocolates as a gift and then eat it slowly until it's gone 6 months later (which is great on the figure). And I can't stand white chocolate!  But if white chocolate was drenched over a cute guy....well...I'm thinking I'd like it a whole lot more   Hehe
