HELP ME! I sent out an email and got one back. Right now I'm PISSED! What audacity some people have, I tell ya!
I don't have a reply to this yet. I don't know if I have the right "people" skills right now. I know I don't, cause what I want to say would be edited out. LOL
Here's the email I sent:
I was doing a search on my poetry today, and came to your site.
I see someone by the name of "goofy," borrowed my poem "Look Within"
and posted it on your board. I have to give applause as they actually did
give me, the author, credit to the poem.
However, permission was not asked of me to use it, nor was a link provided to
where they found it from. Passions in Poetry
I would appreciate if this member was notified of that, and asked NOT to post
poems of another author unless permission was asked to do so.
That is a violation of copyright laws, and I wish for my poem to be removed
Now here's the reply I got back:
I have no problem deleting your poem, as it does not affect me and i'm sure people on my board will not miss it either. This is the first time I even see your poem. Can I have the link to where this poem is at so I can delete it "IMMEDIATELY!"
I understand you have your rights, but as much as you have your rights, people have the right to post things such as poems they have found on the internet on boards, etc. It is not as if he is using your poem for money. And it is not as if he is using your poem on a website. It clearly states "(c) 1999-2000 WhtDove Please respect the rights of the author and Passions in Poetry. If you would like to use this poem on your own web page, please use the Mark button. Thank you. "
They said webpage, not message board. They are two different things. If you don't want people copying your poems, then i suggest you not post them on the internet! At least not on a website where you can email the poems back and forth between friends. Who knows where your poem has ended up! On desktops, printouts, on flyers, you should track down those people too and demand they remove them "IMMEDIATELY!"
I apologize if i'm coming off as rude, however I am disturbed at the way you wrote this email and in fact, I am insulted. You send me an email telling me to remove the poem as if I posted it myself. You might know how to write poetry, but you obviously do not have any people skills.
I am an artist, (http://www.latinabarbie.com/artwork) and I find it flattering when I find my artwork on the internet. It is copywrited as well. But as long as they do not take credit for my work, I have no problem and think it is great that people would actually place my work on their sites/boards, etc. But then again, that's me.
I understand your frustrations, and I will delete that poem, not because you asked, but because I do not want poetry with authors that write beautifully, but act nothing like their actually writings. Practice what you preach.
Ron, help me with this please!?
