UGH! I am sooooooooo sick of my poopy car! Its a 1985 Ford Tempo and I am tired of messing with it. Which really Yeah I know I should be greateful to even have a car but I think I would reather ride a bike for the rest of the year than having to mess with it. Last Saturday it died on me and my friend Toni while we were heading back from town. Luckly she had her cell phone with her and we were able to call he parents. I went down sunday to get it an it started up..... GRRRRRRRR!!!!! Well this morning my dad said it should be ok to drive to school and back. Well guess where the stupid thing is.....That's right, parked up in the school parking lot. I am totally going to ditch the hunk of junk and get me a DODGE!!!

Why does everyone hate Fords?
Is it really that bad?

I never thought that you would ever be the one to let me down. I guess that just goes to show how wrong I always am.

They aren't so terrible.. in fact of the american auto makers dodge is actually the lemon factory--- I prefer chevrolet but drive a ford--- and have owned many-- never really had any trouble from any of them-- the most problems i have ever had with an auto was a 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner with a 440 hemi--- It would scream when it ran,,, of course that wasn't very often...lol

Not ALL Fords are bad...Just the one I go it a hunk of junk. I have to get a fuel filter and the ball barings, or how ever you spell those dumb things. I made my dad drive it home....well lets just say, I'll be getting it fixed soon. I LOVE being a daddy's girl! Anywho, I guess I'll have to put up with my lemon till time for me to go to college....MAYBE by then I'll have enough money to buy something trustworth. like a yellow Dodge Dokato Sport.

Well, a lot of autos made in the mid-80's were basically pieces of junk. It was a confusing time...a time of domestic-imports (isn't that an oxymoron?) and engines with both metric and conventional measures...not too mention the advent of the computer 'brain' that ran, or assumed to run, everything. Things have gotten better, well, compared with those dark years.

I had a 87 Plymouth Reliant Wagon. Domestic-import (part-wise), with both types of measurements (needed both tool kits). The 'brain' was laughable, and a simple short in the wiring harness could and did take out the 'brain' and 3 modules, at $150 per (import again). Though at times it was a POS car, and anything but its namesake, I did manage to roll the odometer almost 4 times on the original engine before a head gasket blew (shortly after the timing chain broke) and after 4 transmissions (Mom couldn't figure out that you should push in then move the column shift...she'd just slap it up or down). But for all its troubles, I still miss that car. It could carry my life quite easily and did on several cross-country endeavors. My next vehicle, whenever that transpires, will either be a late model (with service warranty), or a 70's model (something I can actually work on without a diagnostic computer supercenter).

Ali, for the first 4 years of driving, I had a 1988 Dodge Aries, the Dodge equivalent of a Reliant. God I loved all 93hp of that car. So many memories. Hehe.

Uh, I actually had the misfortune of owning an '85 Tempo also. Funny thing happened, in 1990 when shopping for a new pick up I noticed Consumer Reports rated the '85 tempos last in reliability all together among any car in their class. Mine had already died on me (permanently) by that time of course. have never even thought of owning a Ford since.

I am proud to own a GMC product. It's also a mid 80's model. 87 Pontiac Grand Am. Am just now coming up on 190,000 miles and she still runs good. I have owned Fords and was not even a little bit impressed with Merc Topaz. There was a rolling pile of junk. The only Ford I owned that I truly loved was a 1986 Ford Taurus. That car gave me its whole heart and then some. I think my most hated car was this old (can't remember the year) AMC Pacer. Hated that thing. Got rid of it after 3 months. My favorite car in all my years of driving, was a 1963 Chrysler Imperial that was a wonderful ride. I bought it at auction in pristine condition for 200.00 in 1978 and finally sold her for a healthy chunk of change in 1984. Sometimes I really regret that, but she is safely garaged in a car museum here in town so I can drop by and see her when I get "car-sick".

How can you save me?
When the dark comes right in and takes me,
from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

GMC's seem to be really good. My dad has had a GMC truck forever.Porbably about 13 years and its still running (knocks on wood) My mom got a new Oldsmoblile Intrigue. THAT car rocks! Hopefully, someday (in the near future) I'll get her Buick Skylark. Its a wonderful car, but right now its getting fixed. It had a "little" accident....*looks around room inncoently* If I don't get that I'll probably get a Firdbird.
Anyways, thanks for all your replys. I really don't know what I would do without the Alley.

One of the reason why I'm broke
but, hey...I'm still too young to realize that car's are a bad investment.

Now I drive a Mini-van.
