Aiight. I'll admit it. I'm a chocolate addict. I can't go more than four hours without the stuff or I really go nutz-o. Can somebody tell me not to be so dang obsessed over it? I know it can't be good for mah growin lil self. I think what I need is a logical reason not to eat so much chocolate, or some sort of distraction, or an alternative, or SOMETHING...Since I know most of you surely MUST have an addiction, I'd like to see how you handle it. Uhm, have you tried fat-free and sugar-free fudge bars (the frozen ones)? There really IS no substitute for chocolate, yanno ... you may as well get used to the idea ...  Linda |

"Hi, Carly" *clears throat* About your problem... I think the best route would be to convert your addiction onto something other than chocolate. Like homework, exercise, poetry, brain teasers, or other productive things that can become equally addictive. Maybe even someone special to you...  I know chocolate is a good source of sucrose! Okay, Linda already said what I was going to recommend (she’s so smart). I SWEAR they satisfy cravings... *announcer voice* and only 60 calories! please note: if you end up eating the whole box after you begin to tell yourself that one more won’t hurt because they’re only 60 calories, it’s not my fault. (And under those circumstances, it’s better just to go for a small piece of that chocolate cream pie in the fridge that you SWORE you wouldn’t eat.) |

Every time you crave chocolate, squirt some breath freshener in your mouth. The really bad tasting stuff....then you'll associate that taste with chocolate and not crave it anymore. |

PDV- How do you know she won't just associate chocolate with the breath freshener, and then begin to think of chocolate every time she needs to improve her breath? That could backfire... |

The word addictive might be closer to the truth than you think. Chocolate contains three specific substances - caffeine, theobromine and phenyethylamine - that are as much drug as food. Caffeine acts as a stimulant. Theobromine stimulates the heart muscle and the nervous system. And phenyethylamine is reputed to be a mood elevator and an anti-depressant, not unlike marijuana, though no conclusive proof exists yet. And we're not necessarily talking mildly symptomatic either: two ounces of chocolate is strong enough to KILL a small dog, largely because of the theobromine. Don't even think about feeding it to your cat or bird. I haven't been able to kick the habit, myself, Despite how hard I have tried. Then again, the experts say that women really DO need chocolate, it's part of our chemical balance. I have solved the mystery! *puts a pipe in his mouth and begins pacing* How clever... the officer arrives just after the crime was committed, as though she was here already. Then she gives us all different reasons to believe her list of "suspects" guilty... it sounds as though she's not trying to find out who the bandit is, rather trying to tell us... Look at the Chocolate Bandit's red font... now where have we seen that before? Precisely! Officer Jenny herself. *pivots in the direction of the officer* Give it up, Chocolate Bandit!
