Please welcome a newcomer to our PiP Talk Lounge. This is ‘Mizz Aggie. She’s from Mobile, Alabama, is 97 years old and still in full control of most of her faculties (which ones she can’t control is HER secret but I can tell you to stand down wind when she gets that special ‘smile’).  Mizz Aggie would like to get to know all you wonderful people so she’s going to ask some questions..periodically..to delve into your inner being..that child you once where (some of us can barely remember that kid it was so long ago!) Mizz Aggie sits on a bend near her house and watches people – it’s her passion. So what better place than the “PiP Talk Lounge” for her to sit and ask YOU about yourselves. Here is the first question:

1. As a child, what did you want to be when your grew up, and NOW? How close is that to your childhood goal?

What I am now has nothing to do with what I want(ed) to be when I grow up.

When I was young, I wanted to be a chef.

Now, I want to be a programmer/software tester - So I'll just settle for a programmer that really likes to cook!

Super hero. Able to leap tall buildings at a single bound. I ended up with a Fortress of Solitude, but I don't think that counts.

LOL - A professional football player - fat chance for someone who weighs 135 pounds, huh?...

I often wonder if I should have went into coaching though, because I make a pretty darn good armchair quarterback.

When I was 10 I wanted to be a writer. When I was 16, to join the Peace Corp and save the world. When I was 17, I wanted to be a teacher. In my own small way, I think I'm all of these.

(*but I also thought I was kidnapped as a child and put with the wrong parents! I always thought I was a Princess..sigh!)

And Ron, you are a super man.

Well, Sharon,

I don't know if you've saved the world but I can think of a certain poet whom you saved, lterally.

You're also a darn good poet and you've taught me a thing or two so I'd say you're doing pretty good there.

And since I could never say it enough;

Thank you.
Michael

I wanted to be a fireman as a stubborn stance against my family who kept forcing me and my brothers to become doctors like the rest of the guys in the family

When I was young I'd watch "Dr Kildare". I wanted to grow up and be a doctor. My father let me know that you had to be smart and I was not, so I'd be lucky to just get married and raise kids. I've been married for over 30 years and raised 3 sons. Not a doctor but I learned to cure headaches with hand cream and a kiss. Tears were stopped with the promise of ice cream. Band-aids was almost a miracle cure, the more colorful the band-aid the more powerful it worked.

I wanted to:
          1. Help people and make them happy.

I do that every day. . .

Ron, you're a great guy. . . sometimes, you have to open the fortress a little. . .

and deVine. . . I'll have to be second in line behind Michael in saying "Thanks. . ."

As a small child I wanted to follow in my Dad's foot steps and be a long haul truck driver, and would have settled for local dump trucking.
How ever, when I hit my teen years I wanted to become a veterinarian.

Well, Now I'm 31 years old and do none of the above.
I'm currently putting together a photography business and work part time for a company that writes tax software for large accounting firms.

I would still like to be a vet, but I'm lazy and couldn't imagine going back to school for seven years, then try to establish business.
There are times that I wouldn't mind jumping in a truck and truckin' down the road cross country.

In the end, I'm content with what I'm doing now. Once my photography business gets off the ground I'll be more than content.

Nice to meet you Mizz Aggie, I'm looking forward to the next question!

Hi Mizz Aggie,
I always wanted to be an artist...either with paints and pencils or a camera. I try but I'm not professional.
I wanted to be a poet...once again, I try.
But luckily I am a cook (and a darn good one) so I will never be a starving artist!

It's nice to look back on our childhood dreams and see how far we've come. Thanks for the reminder.

I wanted to be everything as a child lol..seriously - what I wanted to be then is completely far removed from today.

never thought I'd be a writer...never thought I might do a master's degree in Anthropology, or be a counsellor.

Sheesh - I used to play 'secretaries' heh

When little I wanted to be a veternarian.
When I became a teenager, I vowed not to be anything but a hippie.
When I got into my 20's I wanted to be a computer programmer but ended up as a wife and mother.
Now that the kids are gone, and I lost my tech job (due to lay offs) I have gone back to being a cook.
What I'd really like to do is be an old hippie, that loves animals, as well as grandkids, and have backyard barbecues, while working on my computer.

How can you save me?
When the dark comes right in and takes me,
from my front walk and into bed,
where it kisses my face and eats my head. Shivaree

I wanted to be a Vet too.  It didn't take me very long to figure out I couldn't put an animal down no matter how much better it was for the animal.

How close am I now to my goal?  Well, I have two dogs and a cat.  I have two dogs and a cat because I found one dog and the cat and because I couldn't find a suitable home for either, I kept them.  I am terrible for collecting stays!

Mostly, I just wanted to be a fireman. (can't use that word anymore though--heh)
