Sorry if this is the wrong section, but I need help in understanding a poem my teacher has assigned the class. We are suppose to answer the question "What causes personal or societal dissonance?" to Diana Chang's poem "Saying Yes" The problem is I dont see an ounce of dissonance. I will post a link to the poem below.

Please help, and thank you.

Well, we're not in the habit of giving help on homework.

The poem, if that's all of it, is an exercise in negative space. What is not being said is what makes all the difference. So the dissonance could be many things.

The tension between duty and love (think Mulan) or between two loves (Friends' Janice comes to mind) or between love and honor (the Greek chick we had to read about in school --   I have completely forgotten her name right now).

Why the X-men blurb?
