I shall now descend down to Har
And live there in still-river solitude.
The warbling of the bluebird
And the red-rimmed sky
Encompass my world,
And the soft whispers of the night-wind
-The evening’s blinking eye-
Shall tell me in the surging of my blood
All I know and ever need.

The clouds drift and fade
The oak-leaves spin and flutter.
I breathe the heady brew of forest mold,
Of the sunlight’s gold ambrosia
I shall drain many a chalice.
Glimmer light, glow soul, sing, sing
Rise, rise, come and remember
The bent paths and winding stairs
The last words and the broken Strong -
I need no Troy to burn
To breathe this air is life itself.

'the last words and the broken strong'

is almost as good as

'and the soft whispers of the night wind-the evenings blinking eye'

but

'to breathe this air is life itself' presented with such defiance

does it for me.
