She'd sensed they were there,
watching, scrutinizing every word,
true instinct,
deep from the gut,
bits of circumstantial evidence-
so she set out to ensnare them,
unaware they were clutching
the past so tightly.

unable to sort fact from fiction,
they fell headlong into the pit,
her shadow engulfing them,
blinding them to reality.

now she knows,
and the knowing brings pain,
they don't see her for who she is,
has been for years,
they only look to the shadows,
that apparently will
follow her forever,
the trust she worked
so diligently to earn back,
should have earned,
is non-exsistent,
to them,
she will never be whole.

she does something
she hasn't done in years-
looks to the sky,
tears in her eyes,
and asks, "Why me?"

Desire nothing except desirelessness. Hope for nothing except to rise above all hopes.
Want nothing & you will have everything.
