It’s not easy being in the middle
Or even on the side
And yet each time it’s what you do
You make me choose a side
Is there not a corner
Way out of the way
Where I can just be myself
Every hour of every day
Whether at work or
Whether at play
Why does it matter
If I’m me
Even if it’s what I want to be
You think you know me?
I can tell you that you don’t
I’ll pose if I want to
You have no say
Any hour of any day

i truly enjoyed the first half of the poem, but the second half didn't do it for me. it seemed to be a touch more personal, and so i feel as though i was missing an inside note. but as a whole, i still like it very much.
