On a dreary Sunday morning
She rode the bus downtown
Climbed the stairs to the 16th floor
And took the short way down

He read the news next morning
The headlines blared the tale
Sighed with relief at no sign of his name
And started reading his mail

Alone in his cheap motel room
The husband and his bottle of rye
Heard the report on the evening news
And quietly started to cry

There wasn't much of an inquest
For a woman with nothing to hide
None knew the tears, the pain and the shame
For the child she carried inside.

Hi Nik! I had to read this a couple of times before realizing its meaning but found it rather good. A sad tale indeed!
