Thorntree

Night casts her smoky veil of darkness
and watches as the moon strokes across the stars
The shadows of obscurity rise from the mist
to weave their way through forests afar

Grow now the Thorntree
fruits spoilt and bitter
Born of neglect and despair
and strewn upon the forest floor they litter

Grow now the Thorntree
spiked with claws of Sammael,
the Angel of Death
gnashing teeth of Amalek; all spawns of Hell

The fires of darkness
rage deep in this cursed wood
and kindle the madness of the behemoth
in whose way none dare stood

Prophesies of the damned
foretell of the sorrows
plowed deep into the earth
as the tears of despair fill the furrows

Ravage the Thorntree!
Rape it and slash it and tear it asunder!
for to leave it prosper
would be mans’ greatest blunder

Care not the Thorntree
‘tis morn after all
when comes the morrow
shall it stand tall?

Night casts her smoky veil of darkness
and watches as the moon strokes across the stars
The shadows of obscurity rise from the mist
to weave their way through forests afar

Still watching, still dreaming

Mystic

A Poe-like, haunting poem. Love the arrangement...especially how the first stanza is repeated as the last. This does not work in a lot of poems, but certainly does here. This poem also has good syntax and meter, excellent work....:-)
