A raven in the road,
Full silver moon against the cobalt,
Sitting over waves of hills,
Looks down upon the town.

A raven in the road,
He's locked within himself,
Can't see who he is hurting,
She cries her silent tears.

A raven in the road,
He sits on the front porch,
Sees the bird darker than storm clouds,
Eyes meet, and he can see.

A raven in the sky.

It is enlightenment to know one's self" - Lao Tzu

For me raven symbolizes wisdom.
It is interesting that the raven in your poem is "locked within himself", doesn't realize what he is doing, is probably mixed up(?)...
That made me think cos you made me see this creature (even if it's just a metaphor in your poem) from the different point of view.

Dear Magia_negra,

Thank you for reading, and for your reply. I think if you read more closely, you will see that "a raven in the road " is only the opening line for the stanzas, though it ties in to the rest of the poem. The "he" who cannot see is the man on the porch.
Hope I've made it a bit clearer.

Kris
