Spell of Stars

The universe, embroidered space
I read as traits of our own grace-
our touring souls have wayfared far
and left as telltale each gold star
Wherein we shall read back the way
whence we came to invent the day
and bind ourselves in volumes of
forgetfulness and vagues of love.
A tome in time wrought by usself
the brightest bible on the shelf
we are to worlds of mortal birth
but to the sky eternal worth.

I like the poem.
Why not write a free-verse version so as to make a comparison between the twain?
