Lost in thought

And so it was that time stood still,
Upon the thoughts of time and will,
Now pertaining to the mind -
All endless, falling, faltering lines.

But yet there was some, more profound,
Within the realms that time abounds.
And so there also was a way,
Where you could go- push- die- decay.

For the mind is but a faltering thing.
When body dies- minds suffering more extreme.
And to obey the very task
To follow rules that don’t last.

So body pains and mind goes out,
And humans just consist of doubt.
To tortured cries, bearing yet,
And dying, all will soon forget.

Now I just want to see if any of you can get what in all the world my confused mind was pondering over? Or what you get from this...
it was the confusion of my mind. I can tell you what it was really about; after you guess

-And so it was that time stood still-

It could be be referring to the lack of progress in humanity. At least thats what I, personally, get from the poem. Isn't that what REALLY matters? I'd like to hear what it was actually about too, though. Hehe.

When I write a poem, its to make the reader think and draw their own conclusions from it, even if it was not the desired effect. If you do know what the author was trying to "say", then you might not think about it for yourself. People will probably disagree, but these are just my thoughts.

BTW, I enjoyed just the way that this poem sounds. It just sounds...well...cool. Lol. I like the 2nd stanza the most. Very deep words. Keep it up!

GG...First I would like to say I enjoyed your poem. It makes the reader think about many things in life...Paul

My guess as to the topic of your poem I believe is Alzheimers which affects the mind & sort of puts that person in a time warp where to them time does stand still. It decay's the brain to the point that they don't remember anything or anybody.

Thanks for the replies! I love reading and seeing what each person gets from a poem.. I write for myself, but I like to see how it affects others.
I loved the way you both thought a lot about it!

What I was referring to in the poem when I wrote it, actually, was the death of someone I loved. How life is so much harder after they die and how time stands still in your your mind and your focus is on one thing yet with the world going by and with that not being what the world says you should focus on, you are faltering.
Also I wrote a little about there being a way how you could die.. but having to live by the rules of life instead.

but I wrote it all in confusion.. actually I was supposed to be taking a test in school and it came into my head and I just grabbed a paper and wrote! ..sheesh its hard to read my garbled penmanship.

Always, GG

GG~ Thanks for the explanation.
I do the same thing at times, just writting down a bunch of things that pass thru my head on the spur of the moment. What I have learned to try and do is to go back to these ideas later and make since out of them. Sometime it works sometimes it doesn't.Thanks...Paul
