somebody's dungeon

Sometimes the words
splash from my pen
out onto the paper,
and sometimes they
creep into view.
I guess they find that safer.

I've got a drum
and I swear
I'm trying to make them dance,
but these darn words
won't dance a step
not even if I chant.

I guess my words
like my thoughts
have a will of their own,
and they will do
what words do
when put into a poem.

Some will tickle, some will sting,
and some will make a mess.
Some will take the reader away,
maybe bring some happiness.
Now...about the meter?
I'm lost, I must confess.
So I'll just put my quarter in
and hope like all the rest.
