I'm in a state of shock and grief,
Maybe too, some disbelief--
But two friends of mine I found,
On the run--dead--run down!

Oh what a terrible surprise,
That this morning filled my eyes--
Two Beloved Ones, for whom I cared,
Gone from me, no longer there.

Suddenly I feel so old,
As I feel their bodies cold--
The friendship that we had so long,
Yes,in a blink, it's over--gone!

Am I silly for feeling like that?
For I'm grieving o'er two cats--
Yet in their time, they came to be
A blessed part of my family.

Yes, it was a Cat-tastrophy,
And a sad discovery--
How quickly from us things pass away,
To immediately distress our day.

Please bear with me, and let me tell,
Of these my Friends I knew so well--
Special things of them I recall,
Cherished in my mem'ry now.

KeKe's entrance was unique,
Once as a wild one, around he'd sneak--
But when our other cat suddenly died,
He tamed right down, filled that place with pride!

And faithful too, he's always been,
Through the good times, and the lean--
He was a pleasure as my true pet,
One I know, I'll ne'er forget.

Gypsy also came to us,
Showed up one day, without a fuss--
Evidently, as KeKe's guest,
So his life, and ours to bless.

Gypsy was Sweet as could be,
But was scruffed up frequently--
Showed both toughness and and tenderness too,
A Classy Cat, just through and through.

They served as my welcoming committee,
There at home, so to well greet me--
Springing to action, where'er I'd drive in,
With a "Welcome back" and a "Where ya' been?"

In the side yard, I laid them to rest,
Not far from where, they gave me their best--
Yes, today I grieve my double loss you see,
But fore'er I'll cherish their sweet memory!

Yes, and you have every right to grieve.  They steal our hearts.  I have lost some wonderful pets this way.  This is a nice poem to their memory. And for all of our kitties.  Joyce

How sad that you've lost two much loved pets. It's always such a painful thing when it happens. It's nice that you could bury them in your yard.  All of our deceased pets, both cats and dogs are buried on our property. There's something comforting about that.

I recently lost a great old friend i called Ozzy. He was 18 years old. A bold adventurer in his day, i can't say how many times we thought he was gone for good. Only to have him show up skinny and scabby, though it seemed a small matter to him. Yet, he was always gentle and kind to each new kitten that would become his partner in crime...for a time. The stories he could have told.

Oh dear me...now that's just so sad!

sweet noble creatures
the time has come
for you to go to a better place
where pain and misery is all gone
and live over there shall be a happy song
so go thru that door
over to God

love, michelle
