It occurs to me when thinking things through That if we could colour chlorophyll blue We could have a world that looks brand new. But then i think of Winter's grey The green of spring would be away The grass is blue is what we'd say. No longer there'd be a horizon to see No difference between the land and the sea It's clear the world isn't what it used to be It's a mistake to throw out anything new Simply because it never came from you. But even I'm not too sure about blue. Watching flowers grow so it might be seen Hoping that some of them might turn out green Wistfully thinking of what might have been No longer the bluebird would happiness bring I'm not at all sure the birds would now sing Without the birds singing what use would be spring Colorado Blue spruce the pride of the lawn would soon be cut down, every one of them gone. No trees that would hide the colour of dawn When pictured from Space, the world may look blue But i'll keep the green caring not about new. And i'll never again buy a blue car, would you? |
