I'm driving home it's the end of the day.
The work has all been done.
The radio's on my favorite show.
Art Bell has just begun.

The guest speaks of flying."So what!" I exclaim.
"What is the big deal about this."
Planes have been flying for one hundred years.
"Through time?" he said with a hiss.

Time travelling may seem a bit of a joke.
But not to this guest rest assured.
He'd built the machine, tested it out.
Of his facts he seemed to be sure.

I listened in awe  as he spoke of his trips.
through time to places so far.
Forwards and back, he'd been everywhere
And returned with not even a scar.

He'd journeyed afar,  without even a car.
To Mars, a hop skip away
"May I have a ride in this wondrous machine.?"
"You may  but not this one today."

"Send me your cash," I then heard him say.
" I'll send out the plans right away."
"You can build your machine, take off on your own.
Be gone in a couple of days."

I'm sitting right here,  alone on the floor.
Parts strewn all over the place.
Nuts and bolts missing, not one thing fits.
I'm screaming, tears roll down my face.

My wonderful beautiful time machine dream
is quickly fading away
I awake with a start, and then realise.
Tomorrow must be Christmas day

I really enjoyed reading this.  Reminds me of all the Christmas Eves my husband was frantically putting together toys that had to be assembled!

Nice one.

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

twinsgd--Wow, when you start writing again, you really start writing, eh?!  This is another wonderfully fun poem Jack; thank you for sharing it with us.  I really love the ending.

"Unto thine own self be true, and it must follow as the night, the day; thou cans't not be false to any man."---Shakespeare
