the sky was not blue
it was just one vast teardrop
surrounding and drowning me in sadness

the sun was not bright and warming
it was an angry searing blast of  retching reality

the wild flowers were not things of beauty
but things I deeply despised
with the jealousy of a heart gone mad

my pillow was not soft
just a cold hard rock
bashing me awake
to the truth
that you were gone
on a
harsh
ugly
morning

This is painful!  I hope it is not written from a personal experience.  If it is, please know that I am sypathizing.

Betty and Joyce...this is just a fantasy drawn from feelings felt long, long ago.  I was just expanding upon the darker side of a broken heart in hopes of writing a somewhat stirring poem.
Since your posts, I have edited it to read in the past tense, which I feel makes it even better.

I'm fine, thank you.*S*

mistyrose...thank you again for the kind remarks.  I'm glad that I am capable of sharing these things through my writings.
