They're coming from near, and they're coming from wide.
All coming together out of family pride.
There are songs to be sung and stories to tell,
Some of them true and some of them well--.

It was four years ago, my son was still here,
I offered to hostess the function this year.
And now I shall honor the promise I made;
If others are willing to come to my aid.

In my own generation, we number just three.
My youngest brother, my sister and me.
Our four older brothers as well as their wives,
Have gone on after living their valuable lives.

There are three generations following me.
Oh, what an eclectic grouping are we.
My nephew, the Congressman, (you'd all know his name),
His brother (big sports) have brought us some fame.

One of us president of a large company,
A reverend, educator, you name it and we
Have one of those too, and we're all proud to be,
A bona fide member of this family.

Some are retired, and some are still working,
But nary a member was ever found shirking.
Work ethics are part of our true heritage,
Whether in our own business or toiling for wage.

Marriages have brought us great diversities.
We've mixed up the races and nationalities.
My young son once said to his daddy's chagrin,
He was one-half Norwegian, the other half human.

But I know very well, that my mother and dad,
Would be proud of each one of these offspring they had.
For they are the reason we all came to be,
And this reunion's in honor of their memory.
