Could Be Anywhere...

Change

Isn’t it odd...
have everything changes
yet nothing changes at all?
They say one is consistent, boring
creature of central theme
yet sometimes, he breaks the rules?

For instance, take the earth
seasons march like soldiers
everything in orderly sequence.
Yet occasionally
the unexpected, the unusual
Mother Nature tosses into the mix.

Like a deep river
perpetually flowing, always changing
never the same, moment to moment.
But to it’s residents
it must seem as air is to us
constant, real,  little difference.

Take air for instance
tis always the life sustainer
changes little except for flavor.
Perhaps smoky, hot or cold
on the surface always changing
yet bottom line,  always air.

Can you see the paradox?
Hear what the writing says?
It’s the same, yet never the same.
The seasons change yet remain
the earth changes, yet remains
even if we change, yet remain.

Looking closely at ourselves
are we any different than folks
just like, from distant past?
We are all human, built the same
they must have thought similar
that they were living the future.

I’ll ask again and again...
isn’t it odd how everything changes
yet truly remains the same?
Time, rivers, even  human beings
change, progress, flow into tomorrow
yet, what really does change?

I guess life is just an endless circle. I enjoyed the poem.

Yes, indeed, one of life's constants...change! This truth is reavealed to me most powerfully when sitting by the ocean.  Good poem, Daniel!

I enjoy this type of pondering, Daniel, and you've put it together nicely...
And answers aren't needed - it's the question that counts!

It's all been done before.
By those who've gone before.

Life changes but history repeats itself and you write this good.

Don't ever give in, if you do you've lost everything you've ever had and everything you hope to gain, but if you carry on your already winning.

Very thought provoking stuff here. I enjoyed this poem greatly.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily
