Hugo
Once upon a time, about a hundred years ago
A man lived up North amongst the ice and snow.
Hugo was name, and his fame known by everyone
For trapping the biggest grizzlies, way up in the Yukon.

Hugo was a quiet man and always sat alone.
He claimed he never cried, or ever gave a moan.
He didn’t speak too often,
But when he did, his voice was softened.

Only three days now had gone by.
He came into the bar with a tear in his eye.
All the other trappers in this trading place
Were quite astonished with the anguish on his face.

Hugo looked around and said he had a tale to tell
All about the only time he ever had to yell.
Everyone listened without a single peep
He could hardly be heard, his voice was but a squeak.

While I was setting the bear trap trip,
I slipped and fell butt first into its’ iron clasp grip.
I told you of my pain and hope you understand.
They agreed, that one hell-of-a scream is entitled to a man.

Hugo was relieved, but hung his head once more.
I screamed more than once, and louder than before.
My ungodly squawking got caught up in my throat
When I came to the end of the traps’ twenty-foot rope.

This is quite a tale!  I really enjoyed reading it.

And indeed he learned what a terrible thing a big trap is.  Joyce

Truly there are two kinds of pain:
The first kind.
And the second kind.
"It ain't over 'til it's over".
Thanks, Melton.
