It came in the mail today,
a small gift I bought for myself.
A surprise, because at the time,
it was on back-order, and not expected.

A small clay pot, with a hanger.
The pot is surrounded, colorfully,
with minature birdhouses,and fence.
Below the pot,a tiny birdfeeder.

I filled the pot with moist earth,
newly thawed from the garden.
Then I planted a purple Pansy,
scooped birdseed into the feeder,
and hung it on a thick branch
of the heavily budded Dogwood tree.
This lovely tree, central to my garden.

As I gazed out of the window,
beholding this small enchantment,
I felt immeasurable Joy!

In that magical moment,
I knew the true essence of life.

To feel Joy in each small wonder,
that God sends our way!
