My Computer

My friends had them , my brother had one too
he said he would like to go online.
I said "huh?", what is this thing you do
that keeps you from your family all the time?

I soon learnt about computer and information
and before long considered myself a candidate.
I'm still not sure of setup or configuration
but there's time for me to learn yet.

Now I am like a child with a new toy
nothing else matters in my life
Going online brings me so much joy
but at times gets me into strife.

I have met many friends through this invention
be it by messenger, chat or e-mail.
Just have to remember my other obligations
and by smooth seas I shall sail.

For those of you not up with the aussie slang......'strife' means trouble.

Really cute, JB!
"Just have to remember my other obligations"...

just a word of warning from one who's been online for almost a year... the above may not be as easy to do as you may think!
Have fun!

Oh oh! You're hooked! But you're a member of a large family here! Just try to stay balanced, and enjoy!

Jos; Great poem and, oh, How I can relate!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

) I think strife means the same...no matter what country....especially when it comes to computers. This is very cute and also very true. ...Twilah......

I go days without sitting down in front of this thing, but when I do, I know what you mean.

Oh how true your words are!
I can sure relate to this. If I don't have my computer I suffer terrible withdrawal! There is a world of adventure out there waiting to be explored, and a computer is a window to many worlds.
It's true, we have to learn to balance our time or it can take over reality.
Well written poem!
