Vultures hover
Round the deli
Waiting for the next
Slab of meat

Nostrils tuned
To the breeze
Waiting until
One of them calls
Bon' appetite

From
Roadside stands
A good supply
Is fresh at hand
The deli just a short hop

Possums, armadillos
and others who attempted
To cross the road and the
Poor chicken who fell
Off the truck
In all these doth the vultures delight
But the mother of all feast
A great festivity
When aside the road
Vultures dine
On skunk

It's a vulture's life
Someone has to do it!

LOL...interesting piece..anyone hungry?..we have a lot of vultures along the side of the road in Florida..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

This is one deli I think I will not frequent. This is very clever!

Yuk.. I don't think I'd like to be a vulture, hehe.. I think I'll leave it to them.. better that way.. I enjoyed this.. tho I'm sure the chicken didn't.. Clever.. yes.. indeed..

and so each has a purpose...clever dear, but I'll just pass on by that diner.....
