A setting sun in the distance
My conscious at my side
I pummel through the silence
And prep for another ride

The darkness seeps inside me
Memories flutter about
Pangs of regret consume me
I follow the charted route

Around and around I flutter
All this way and that
Hateful words I mutter
Their meaning falling flat

Be still my beating heart
So this hurt will finally cease
No feelings left to impart
My mind full of such peace

I long for a night of silence
When the despair no longer visits
Feelings are not so viscious
My soul at the dark place pivits

Yet my darkness is not over
The night has just begun
The hurt and rage will hover
Until the guilt has had it's fun

Pity me not ye fellow friends
For those few who remember me
Although the hurt never ends
The lesson has made me see.

Hey again everyone. Yep...Lil Wikket just stayed away too long this time...they went ahead and moved the whole pub! It's okay, this army girl found it and moved her stool right back up to the bar. Good seeing you all here--at least some people are keeping the fire warm, the grand poetry flowing, and the cheer at tip-top! Take care everyone!

Jamie; this is very thought provoking and filled with wisdom, i agree that conquering my dark side has given me much wisdom too.

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Ellie: Thank you. It's hard trying to explain to everyday people what I'm talking about half the time. It is like they see in black in white, and I'm seeing in vivid color. Perhaps it is a gift given to those in the poet world, so we can shine light into their eyes! Thank you again for your comments! ~~Jamie

This was a great poem,so descriptive and accurate to how it really feels. Very well written, and a very good read.
I agree with every word you say!!It amazes me how and artist and someone with out that, Someone who hasn't got their minds open to the things that an artist does how those to groups of people are in seperate worlds!! And no matter how hard you try,you really can't get through or cross over, funny isn't it??Okay and i'm babbling..lol..anyways loved the poem and am sending it off to my library.

Ah, this has the ring of truth to it, Jamie. Nobody wants the pain, and certainly nobody wants it to stay and stay, but it does open eyes. And perhaps, in your case, it has not only opened your eyes to others, but has also enhanced your poetic gift, not just made you see, but also made you feel, and feeling has made you write. Did I mention that I like what you have written here? I do.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

Swamp¤Faeryie: Thank you! I do like when I write something and some people can understand it! Thank you again for your comments...and adding this one to your collection *blush*. I'm honored!

kcsgrandma: I agree...we do all have our dark places; our own 'inner hell' so to speak. I believe that saying 'You are your own worst enemy.' Thank you for taking the time to read this one, and thank you for your comments.

sad to think we all have to wallow in a dark place to learn something. But i guess if we weren't such deep people we wouldn't wallow as long. great poem Jamie Love reading your stuff Very thought provoking. Suzanne

Jamie..all artists suffer. in order to perfect their craft it is essential. especially poets.. I really liked this and could identify with it.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Suzanne: Thank you. There is truth in what you say...the more we feel pain the more we feel happiness. At least, when it comes time to be happy, we know why we should be!

Pegasus: Yes Yes...we all have our share of the 'dark place.' That alone makes all of us soooooo fascinating to listen to! Thank you for your comments!
