As darkness
falls over the city's towers,
clear sky declines
into dusky shifting shadows.
Solemn evensong
advances with failing light,
obscure sky rhythms
plucks last golden ray of sight.

With distant shaded sun
in a rush to meet the horizon,
colors of today's world bleed
into tomorrow's black and white,
endless flow from within to without.
A hush moment of breathless time,
then the giants of color step forth
trailing streamers of shaded brilliance,
as they solemnly stride into evening's tide.

This is so lovely, Wordancer!  You have drawn me into the scene as few people ever do.  Hats off to you!

wonderful description of a glorious sunset..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

wonderful feelings of beauty you capture so well with your magic of words!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Thank-you all for your ever so lovely comments.  This was an interpretation of a dream my daughter had last year.  I told her someday it would be a poem...and now it is.

Wow! That's amazing how you can take a dream and make it into such a vivid poem.
I have a hard time putting my dreams into words. They're so fuzzy!

Wordancer, what amazing imagery - truly an original painting, and how glorious!

"then the giants of color step forth
trailing streamers of shaded brilliance,
as they solemnly stride into evening's tide."

Love it immensely!
