Out of the Darkness

As it is in the world,
there are many colors
in the soul of man.
In truth, some are dark.

The honest poet has the courage
to explore the dark colors,
as well as the light.
For he seeks truth.

Only in this way,
can the artist or poet,
arrive at his own truth,
in a world blinded by the dark.

All of it is there,
waiting for discovery,
in silent prenatal repose,
in the dark corners.

Not for the faint of heart,
or the smug, or self righteous,
nor those arrogant creatures
that scoff at the dreamers.

A poet is his dreams,
and yes, his nightmares too.
How could it be otherwise
in such a colorful world?

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

These are wise words, Pegasus.   I must plead guilty to being faint of heart, and I am often troubled by the dark poems.  That makes it difficult for me to respond to them.  Yet, I would not have them unwritten.  Perhaps they disturb me because they force me to confront things I try to hide even from myself.  Thank you for pointing out the value of exploring all feelings in the search for truth.

To love another person is to see the face of God.

and as the silence screams it's rejection,
the poet smiles......

so says the winged pegasus

Consider this, my winged wonder, that silence is not rejection--it is voiceless awe.  Stunned into amazement, the audience can only try to understand what their eyes perceive.

Just a matter of perception...you know…

Pegasus - I so enjoy your work!   Here, you have challenged us to embark on a journey... I think one needs to feel securely attached before tackling the dark unknown - I often catch glimpses - afraid I'll be caught in its grasp...
Or maybe I fear that darkness holds more truth than I care to admit....
Very thoughtful and thought-provoking -- I love this one!

I try...but it is so scary to confront those nightmares!  I wish I could crawl inside your head and learn a few things...no matter how hard I try, my poems always come out sounding too friendly or cutsie...but dark thoughts are there too.

friends..we fear most what is locked in the shadows. especially within the shadows of our own subconscious. to drag these dark thoughts and feelings out into the light is like saying, "see? they aren't as bad as I thought, once I can see them clearly"...physician, heal thyself.

nice work...I enjoy the dark side...by revealing it in words we release ourselves from its grip.

lost in thought, found in words.

Apsolute truth, Pegasus. I spent many years and could only write of the darkside that I battled with. I finally surrendered all of the darkness to God and His wondrous healing. It is a glory to me to walk in the light, yet in times of deep pain (as I am experiencing now) thank God for my poetry to write of it and have it be only a time to pass through until it is but a memory. Love, Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
