Beneath The Tree Of Life

Beneath the tree of life I lay my head
The leaves of past and future are my bed
While present gently covers up my face
Lost in tranquillity of  life's embrace
Old memories upset the balance frail
A long lost love disturbs the present scale
Nothing could mar this happiness divine
Too little time was given to entwine
And yet I bid farewell to thee my love
For future will bestow leaves from above
Confused and startled by a soul akin
Incapable to catch what lays within
Lost in tranquillity of life's embrace
Beneath the tree of life I rest my case

Munda; this is an exquiste Sonnet. Beautifully done!  Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Munda,
Beautifully sad--or sadly beautiful. Anyway, it's a beatiful sonnet...and uncanny, as fate would have it.

Munda,
Melancholy sweetness! I like this little treasure!

I really like this. You have written it so well, and the title is so fitting, and so much truth is brought forth in so little words. We all have to learn to rest beneath the tree of life as you have described here so well. This is definely a keeper!

This is a lovely sonnet, Munda.  I love the tree of life image and the way you have carried it through. Well done.

Munda..great piece..the sonnet can be a real challenge..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
