I Cannot Give

I cannot give the things I wish to you,
No touch of lips or fingers on your skin,
No passion in my eyes before your view
So you might know the love I feel within.
With tenderness of voice I cannot tell,
Nor give the flavor or the scent of me,
Nothing that you can feel, taste, hear or smell
And not the things I hope for you to see.

The only gift at present I can give
That you might sense the love that fills my heart
And grows, each breath I take, each day I live,
Is simple words, expressed in poet's art.
I write for you, hoping your heart to touch
With words that show I love you very much.

Well, I don't know about the person you wrote it about, kcsgrandma, but I definately have a tear or two in my eye.  Very well expressed!  Grand!

Maree, thank you for the WOW.

Pegasus, thank you for your kind words, especially the bravo, dear to a musician's heart.     If you found it gripping, I feel I have succeeded.

Gene, having just read your most recent post, I am very much flattered by your praise. Thank you!

Wikket, wow!  Tears?  Really?  Thank you very much!  (Don't know that he cried, but I believe he liked it.   )

Debbie, I am humbled by such praise.  Thank you.

Well, now I'm kinda speechless.  This shows what a warm hearted person you are... and makes me think of long lost Strosek.. Gotta run and send this to him in a card, I think. Very well done.
