sitting cross-legged for an hour,
trying my darnest to somehow squeeze the lens into the eyes,
attempting a vague smile at the mounting impatience of the optician,
(while cursing at his intolerance
and panicking at my incompetence)

FINALLY,
when i was just about to surrender and ask for a refund(and recall this incident forever in shame and embarrassment),
the lens miraculously stayed when i let go,
(a huge HURRAY! i silently exclaimed)
I(yes, me!) conquered my fear of the unknown,
(a self-indulgent WOW!, i congratulated myself)

only to realise that
i much prefer glasses after all
(there is something comforting about the frame resting on your nose)

and my self-imposed image change might just come to nought

i apologise for putting such trivial thoughts on important space,
am amused at my fickle-mindedness
and
am grateful that you have endured this rambling with me

Kaile; Delightful read. Here's irony for you...I wear contacts, but now at my age (shhh), I need reading glasses too! Ellie

Kaile, I have gone through a couple of spells of wearing contacts, but eventually gave them up.  They have a lot of advantages, but the glasses seem, somehow, more dependable I guess.     LOL@Ellie.  I had to have reading glasses, too.  My no-line bifocals are much easier to deal with.  Nice ramblings, I think.

I don't think I could go through that either!  Thankfully, I only need reading glasses for fine print! (for now!)

Cute one, Kaile.

Hey. That's okie! It happened to me when I wear contacts too, though my first time didn't take as long. I much prefer the security my glasses offer me, and many a times, I keep rubbing the bridge of my nose, just to find that there's no spectacles resting there...

And no, you don't!!! You can't get away with not wearing your contacts!!   You better wear them, one pair costs so much!

I can't imagine myself being able to wear contacts.. I don't even like putting eyedrops in my eyes! Unfortunately, whatever my eye problem is, I've been told that even glasses won't help, so i only have glasses for close work, and can't see the rest of the time. ^^
I enjoyed ur ramblings - again. You have a habit of excellent writing, don't you!
