Spider’s Web

cautiously, carefully
I step once
testing its strength
before beginning this journey
along the glistening,
glittering silken thread
that brings me to you,
your waiting arms,
loving kiss, gentle caress,
ready to love, care,
to hold and be
with me
what has been destroyed
or never was
with him

you call out,
I smile
the strand wavers
but I continue
finding my way
carefully, slowly,
almost there,
when I hear him
calling me
back to him
even though
he let me go,
my future changed,
now with you and
not him

a moments hesitation
I turn to him
which way now-
forward or back?
neither
the strand breaks
I’m falling,
my balance gone
my confidence lost
falling...
          f
          a
          l
          l
          i
          n
          g
          .
          .
          .
to be caught by
silken threads,
waking the beast-
before I can move
its tines sink in

very interesting analogy...has a nice surreal quality that I like..looking forward to more.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Spider's wed, i love this analogy. I often use it to be a symbol of how delicate life can be, yet how much work it takes you to make it what it is.
Nice job on this one.

Wow!  Nice work, though a bit scary, and definitely not encouraging for those of use who are indecisive!

Beautifully intricate and woven analogy! Choices are scary ...Ellie

Thanks for all the great comments everyone... glad you liked the poem. If anybody has ever been in this "sticky" situation before, I think a spiders web describes it perfectly, including the loss of control that can sometimes occur in these situations. Ah yes, we do find the most wonderful inspiration for writing in daily life, dont we?
