Child of My Child

I was there on the day that you came to this earth.
How I loved you, the child of my child!
Held you close to my heart on the day of your birth
And I wish you could see how I smiled.

Child of my child, oh my darling sweet boy
One of God's greatest gifts in our sight,
How could we know you would bring so much joy?
Knowing you has been such a delight!

You've lit so many lives in your first few short years,
Have touched so many family and friends.
We have watched as you grew through the sunshine and tears
And the love that we feel never ends.

Child of my child, oh my darling sweet boy
One of God's greatest gifts in our sight,
How could we know you would bring so much joy?
Knowing you has been such a delight!

With your mother to guide you, you've traveled afar.
We were sad that you must go away.
But with thoughts sent on moonbeams and wishes on stars
In our hearts evermore you will stay.

Child of my child, oh my darling sweet boy
One of God's greatest gifts in our sight,
How could we know you would bring so much joy?
Knowing you has been such a delight!

What a beautiful sentiment.     Thankyou for sharing this with us.

Angel - Thanks, sweetie.  I rather liked that part, too.

Kaile - I'm sorry you misunderstood.  Marge is going to be a grandma for the first time, and this was actually written about my own grandson, who didn't die, but just moved a few states away after spending his first three years with me.  Sorry it gave you the wrong impression.

Kaile - You should never be embarrassed about compassion and kindness.      You are a good friend.

Pegasus - I hope you have many grandchildren, and enjoy every minute with them.     Thanks.

Suzanne -   You look much too young to be thinking about grandchildren, but I hope when the time comes you have all you want.  Thank you.

LOL Suzanne - You really looked much younger to me.  In that case, hope it happens soon enough to make you happy.

Gale - Thanks, especially for your compassion.     The license to spoil is one of the best parts about being a grandparent.     And your turn may come sooner than you think.  Kids grow up unbelievably fast. I know things get misinterpreted.  Just wish I had made my intention clearer here, I guess.

hugs

Well done. The relationship between a child and a parent is the most valued of all.

Thanks, Little Girl and Denise.   For a time, I was as much parent as grandparent to my grandson, so he's extra special to me.

kcs: getting that first grandchild is sssoooo thrilling and then more come along and we wonder how it can keep getting better and better! We have 15 Grand and 5 Great Grand.  I try not miss any of the changes and love them all the same. Possible?  Good luck and get ready for more "oatmeal kisses". They are the best.     Hugs,  ME

Mother Earth - Thanks.  Nice to hear from you.     You sound like my mother, who also has 15 grandkids, but only one great (my grandson, of course).  Don't think I'm like ever to get that many, but sure do love the one I have.
