Why Can't We Still Be Friends?

You picked me up when I was feeling blue,
You were always there whenever I needed you,
You made me laugh until I had tears in my eyes,
I don't want to let you go,
I am not ready to say good bye.

We don't always see eye to eye
and it's alright that we sometimes disagree,
But can't you see that I need you,
and you need me?
Remember all the fun times we've had,
Now that your gone I just feel so sad,
I don't want our friendship to end,
What can I do to make ammends?

Who ever thought that after we first met
a special friendship would blossom and grow,
it was so unexpected, we both didn't know.
I thank God everyday for letting our paths cross,
If our friendship ends it will be a tremendous loss.

But whatever happens you will always have a special place in my heart,
The memories and pictures will last forever,
Each one tells a different story,
putting a smile on my face.
I miss you and wonder if you miss me,
This isn't the way that it should be.

I sit here alone and I begin to think,
I ask myself this simple question,
Why can't we still be friends?
You know how I feel and that I cherish you,
I am reaching out,
I don't know what else to do,
I leave the rest up to you.

Oh Artemis...this one has a very special meaning to me.  A friend I have had for many years, is not speaking to me, and I am at wits end trying to stop it.  Thank you for sharing this...it is truly excellent in it's meaning.  I hope your friend realized exactly what he/she was losing, in such a friend as you.

Now, you walk into a bar, and sailors come runnin' out!"

oh Artemis you have to close to home
for I had a friend that I cherished
and is gone never to be friends again
I miss her.I dont know if she misses me
jealousy and hate came between us
for she wanted what she couldn't have
A dangerous friend I suppose
but I still cherish the good times we had
I hope your friend comes around

Have you shown this to your friend? Maybe it will break the ice and start the renewal of your relationship! I can't imagine someone not having a change of heart after reading such tender sentiments!

I wrote that for a friend after I thought that our friendship was truly over, but things worked out well before I was going to give the poem so I never did. I just wanted to share another poem on here. I have actually thought about giving it to another friend of mine whom I've lost touch with over an arguement, but I am not sure if her friendship is worth it afterall. Thanks for all your encouraging words.

lost friendship can be as traumatic as lost love for that's what it really is..glad to hear you made up with yours.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I'm sorry this is happening to you. The poem was great though....keep posting.

Artemis,
You've done so well in writing this.  It's a perfect example of what I wonder every day about a guy who used to be a really close friend.  And the last two lines are almost exactly what I said to him the last time we talked.     Very good read.
  BWA.

With a little piece of tomorrow,
You'll have to kiss yesterday goodbye.
Because today won't last forever,
And the past will only make you cry.
