My eyes have never seen glory,
And what I see in the dark
I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.
Who knows what the first rays of dawn
Will shed light upon.
I always wait for the break of day,
Never knowing what first light will bring.
I never believe my eyes,
Because you can't trust experience,
And anyway, who would want to?
Doctor, my eyes
Are dry and tired,
And no amount of Visene
Will heal the aching wounds in them.
What do you say
When you've survived to see the light of day
That you never wanted to live to see?
I'll clench my eyes shut tight,
Proof against the harsh glare of reality,
And open them wide
When the sun sets
And I can adjust to the mute dusk.

lovely and so depressing..hope this is not a real funk you are in and just poetic licence..

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Ah gofor42, such a bitter pain.  Sometimes I wonder too how people can go on every day, seemingly unmoved by all that goes on around them.  I used to wait for the dawn too...if you don't believe me, try looking at this one:  /pip/Forum27/HTML/000117.html

Thanks for sharing this with us.  I hope you find your peace soon.

Trust me, folks--it's all poetic license with a slight drop of personal bitterness...but really, I'm only bitter on the outside--inside, I'm chewy nugat.

oohh...  chewy nugat...
OH!  Beautiful expression of melancholy.
Love, hope, and prosperity in the new year, gofor42.  Although, sometimes, I too choose not to see.

Yes, I'd open my eyes up wide if I thought I'd get to see glory...though I may be blinded by it, I'd still like the opportunity, you know?
