In the cave I awaken
My wretched night behind me
All my hopes forsaken
I listen to the embracing sea

Not so quickly, I stand
Moving toward the morning light
Sun moving rapidly over the sand
Not pausing to hear my plight

Footprints made so swiftly
Waves crashing upon the beach
The gull croons loudly
Laughing up above my reach

Anger consumes from deep within
I grab the nearest group of shell
Can't stop now; 'tis a sin
They could never feel my hell

A solitary launch oer the bay
The beautiful shells spread
Flittering on the ocean spray
Making purpose within my head

Am I here to be a disturber?
Flittering souls this way and that
Not pausing to hear the murmer
Of those who, on this beach, once sat

"No" I say loudly to myself
For inside I know the truth
This pain I feel I will shelf
For eventually people it will soothe

And I will gently glide oer the water
Watching the one who would take my place
Filling her soul with what will matter
Seeing nature steal the pain on her face

Kind of in my little ol world for this one!  Anyways, I'm wishing everyone in The Corner Pub a Happy New Year filled with many new gifts and inspirations!  Take care everyone!

Jamie; I had to read this a few times over because there is so much depth and feeling here. The analogy of sea and ocean and seashells is perfection. Beautifully written and wonderfully insightful. Ellie

Ellie:  Thank you for your understanding--it is an honor that you read it twice!

Denise:  I'm glad you liked it.  That line was my favorite too!

Melton:  Yep...moving on!  You have to for survival!  Thanks for your comment!

pegasus:  It is an honor to have you just read my words!  Thank you!  Believe me, you are a high read on my list too!

Suzanne:  Thank you...I never thought of my poetry as 'lovely'--more like, 'life's trials'.  But, I do appreciate any kinder word you would give it!

Thanks Everyone and Happy New Year!
